If you recall he imposed massive tariffs on almost every other country so I'm not exactly sure what country will substitute for China especially the stuff companies need that can't be produced by Penguins. Americans will absorb those costs as well. I do take a little solace now knowing that some Americans are just figuring out how tariffs work (or don't) and where the application of them make sense and when they do not.

If you can recall, he rolled back the massive tariffs on almost every other country.
so what was the point? To throw the world economy into chaos and destroy American credibility. I'm not a Rand Paul fan by any means but sometimes these Libertarians get stuff right. Google some of what he says about tarrifs. You can't run a country like a game and these "deals" trump said were flooding in are fiction. Can you name one?

Yesterday was great because I got 18 out on Chabot golfing like our president was doing (and bragging about winning some stupid tournament) when the country was in turmoil. Yesterday was the dead cat bounce. Also google Yellens analysis of this strategy and report back. As a student at Cal I cleaned the offices of cal profs in Barrows. One was Yellens so I may be prejudiced granted

"Yesterday was great because I got 18 out on Chabot golfing."

I grew up 2.5 miles from Lake Chabot GC. During summers starting at age 11 my Mom would drop me off in the morning and pick me up in the late afternoon (aka free daycare). A monthly ticket cost $10 and entitled you to play unlimited golf Monday through Friday.

When I was at Cal my buddy had a summer job on the graveyard shift watering the course. A bunch of us would go up there after midnight to visit him, smoke pot, drink and play night frisbee. I know every nook and cranny of the place and have only fond memories.

*Interestingly enough I never rode an ice block down the 18th fairway.

One day, tariffs will be lifted and it will usher in a massive bull market. Yes, domestic supply adjustments will be felt, but the economy will suddenly be supplied with many cheaper inputs and this will result in building, hiring, and savings that can be used elsewhere.

How many small businesses will have to fold and file for Bankruptcy Tom?
How many people will have to file for unemployment Tom?

How much will our debt soar as the economy weakens and safety-nets are used?
How much tax revenue will dry up during the Recession?

How many state and municipal governments will be running huge budget deficits because retail sales plummet and with it goes sales tax revenue?

How many first responders like Fire and Police will have to be layed-off Tom?
How high will the crime rate increase Tom?

How many non-profits will watch their donations dry up Tom?

We are seeing the single BIGGEST TAX INCREASE since 1968.
Roughly 2.4% of GDP.

The effective rate of these tariffs is 23+% and higher than that of the Smoot-Hawley Act in 1930.

I asked ChatGPT what commonly used items Americans buy from China, so I might know to stock up on inventory.

Quote:

Americans regularly buy a wide range of consumer goods from China. Many of these are everyday items found in homes, offices, and stores across the U.S. Some of the most common include:

### 1. **Electronics**
- Smartphones (including components for iPhones)
- Laptops, tablets, and accessories
- Televisions and monitors
- Small appliances like toasters, air fryers, and vacuums
- LED lighting and light fixtures

### 2. **Clothing and Footwear**
- T-shirts, jeans, jackets
- Shoes, boots, and sneakers
- Underwear and socks
- Hats, scarves, and gloves

### 3. **Toys and Games**
- Children's toys and dolls
- Board games
- Puzzles and educational toys
- Video game controllers and accessories

### 4. **Household Goods**
- Cookware and kitchen utensils
- Furniture (assembled and flat-pack)
- Bedding, curtains, and towels
- Storage containers and organizers
- Cleaning tools (brooms, mops, etc.)

### 5. **Tools and Hardware**
- Hand tools (wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers)
- Power tools and tool kits
- Nails, screws, fasteners
- Plumbing and electrical supplies

### 6. **Automotive Parts**
- Aftermarket car parts
- Tires and accessories
- Car phone holders, chargers, mats

### 7. **Personal Care Products**
- Hair dryers, electric shavers, toothbrushes
- Makeup brushes and organizers
- Nail clippers and tweezers

### 8. **Sporting Goods and Outdoor Gear**
- Bicycles and scooters
- Camping gear (tents, lanterns)
- Fitness equipment (dumbbells, yoga mats)

### 9. **School and Office Supplies**
- Pens, notebooks, folders
- Staplers, scissors, tape dispensers
- Printer ink and paper

### 10. **Holiday Decorations**
- Christmas lights and ornaments
- Halloween costumes
- Party supplies

Many of these products are designed or marketed by American companies but manufactured in China due to lower production costs. Let me know if you want to explore how this dependency has shifted in recent years due to tariffs or supply chain diversification.

The 25th Amendment outlines a procedure for temporary or permanent transfer of presidential powers when the president is deemed unable to discharge their duties, but it doesn't directly "remove" the president from office. Section 4 allows the vice president and a majority of the cabinet to declare the president unable to serve, triggering the transfer of power to the vice president as acting president. If the president disagrees, Congress must vote within 48 hours to determine if the president is truly unable to serve; a two-thirds vote in both houses confirms the vice president as acting president, while a failure to reach that threshold allows the president to resume their duties
