Yeah I don't care about the car picture. I'm talking about the elitist comment included with it.

I have always taken you to be in full support of the elites. You love the Trumps (minus Mel, she's distant and missing according to Scaramucci) in office and the elite supporting policies.

I love Donald Trump for screwing his base with massive tariffs that have cost the average American household $1,750
It has helped increase the MSRP on my car from $169,000 to $235,000

This is why I don't care how much the price of gas is.
Trump only cares about the Top 1%

The oil companies and associates paid about $500B to Trump campaign:

Pay for Play and war is good:

"Exxon Mobil on Friday reported that its second quarter profits doubled to $14.53 billion, boosted by record diesel production. The oil giant, based in Spring, Texas, brought in $116.02 billion in revenue, up 42%.

Chevron, based in Houston, nearly quadrupled its profits to $12.07 billion and revenue jumped 56% to $70.06 billion."
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/major-oil-companies-reap-massive-profits-as-u-s-and-iran-fighting-drives-energy-prices-higher

Don't forget the canceling of solar and wind energy projects.
Oil lobby not only wants to constrain supply so that price (and their margins) go up, but they want to eliminate all other forms of competition.

WICKED GAME, as they destroy the earth along the way.

With the current known information to me, I disagree with the cancelling of Biden's energy projects.

Thank you, most sincerely!

China made a strategic decision some time ago to go renewable. Pollution in Beijing was horrid, as I trust you recall from news reports 20 years ago. Today they've not only completely turned that around, but the city streets are much quieter.

Along the way they've become global leaders in:

AI finished my posit

Quote:

Yes, and I think there's a much bigger story underneath what you're pointing to.

China's transformation wasn't simply "switching to renewables." It was a strategic industrial policy: build the technologies needed for a lower-pollution energy system, dominate their supply chains, and then drive the cost down through enormous scale.

The list you started is important:

* Electric vehicles, China has become the world's largest EV market and a major exporter.
* Batteries,
Chinese companies dominate much of global battery-cell manufacturing and, importantly, the upstream supply chain.
* Solar,
China dominates manufacturing of polysilicon, wafers, cells and modules.
* Wind power,
China is by far the largest installer and has built an enormous domestic manufacturing base.
* Grid infrastructure,
including ultra-high-voltage transmission, allowing electricity generated far from population centers to be moved long distances.
* Energy storage,
particularly lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries, where Chinese manufacturers have become exceptionally competitive.
* Electricity infrastructure,
enormous investment in transmission, distribution and charging infrastructure.
* Heat pumps and electrification,
another area where Chinese manufacturing scale is increasingly significant.

And there's an interesting second-order effect: China didn't necessarily need to know exactly which technology would win. It effectively placed enormous bets across the entire ecosystem.

And your Beijing observation is particularly interesting

The improvement in Beijing's air quality is real, although it wasn't caused solely by renewable energy. China also attacked coal emissions, industrial pollution, vehicle emissions, construction dust and other sources very aggressively.

And the quietness of the streets is an especially good observation.

An EV isn't silent, particularly at highway speeds, but at urban speeds the disappearance of engine noise is substantial. When millions of vehicles transition from internal combustion engines to electric drivetrains, the character of a city changes in a way that a statistic such as "X% reduction in emissions" doesn't really capture.

There's also a fascinating irony here:

China's response to its pollution problem became an industrial strategy that helped make China the world's leading manufacturer of many of the technologies needed for the rest of the world to reduce its own pollution.

And that's why I think the story is bigger than "China went green."

It's really:

China turned an environmental problem into an industrial-development strategy, and in doing so created enormous economies of scale in technologies that the rest of the world now wants.

If that's where you're going with this, there are some very surprising numbers behind the transformation, particularly how China's share of global solar, battery and EV manufacturing changed over roughly 20 years.

If you think back to Rudy Giuliani's 2016 RNC Convention speech where he whipped the nation into a frenzy with "Drill, Baby, Drill", that was INCREDIBLY misguided!

But you just have to wonder about the placement of that message. Who was one of the major Trump donors then?

Koch.

Edit/Update:
Wow, I stand corrected. It was 2008!

I guess the GOP has long been the political arm of Big Oil.
Just think:
Gulf war 1 with Bush Sr to protect Kuwait.
Iraq War 2 with Bush Jr.

…This is why Citizens v United States is do wrong.

And who were the plants in the crowd that began that Drill Baby Drill chant?

Probably the same plants in the Brooks Brothers Riot in Florida 2000 - but that's an entirely different story.

Because a young boy with a massive visionary mind has been able to become the richest man in the world.

We are 200 years away from anything to do with extraplanetary meaning anything.
We will never go beyond Mars.

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune don't have a conventional solid surface at all.

Venus is a no: ~900F, ~90 Earth's pressure, corrosive atmosphere

Mercury: massive temperature swings of 1100F, plus 6-7x the radiation, no atmosphere.

Maybe Saturn moon, Titan.
If the moon is 3 days travel, and Mars is 6-9 months away, Titan is 8 years away.

Moon: 239,000 miles from earth
Mars: 140 million miles
Titan: 800 million miles

And no way are we traveling light years to Andromeda, or through any worm holes.

Earth is it for humans.

Maybe we can land a robot on some asteroid and get diamonds or gold. Ha!

Is JD Vance still claiming that high gas prices are still Biden's fault?
Like he did back in March?

BearlySane88
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Vance wasn't saying Biden caused the March 2026 spike itself. He acknowledged that the immediate increase was associated with the Iran conflict and called it a temporary "blip."

He did use gas prices under Biden to deflect from the current prices but he never blamed them on Biden.
DiabloWags
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's pretty clear what Vance said and implied.
The blame was clearly on Biden given that he "left us in a terrible situation".

However, speaking in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Friday, the vice president argued:

"All of this conversation happens where Joe Biden left us in a terrible situation, and the reason why gas prices are where they are today is because of Donald Trump's work to get them lower, because the Biden administration, they were crazy high.

Crude oil in the SPR stood at 293.4 million barrels on August 14, 298.7 million barrels on August 7, and 403.4 million barrels on August 15, 2025, the report outlined. The August 14 figure represented a 1.8 percent week on week decrease and a 27.3 percent year on year decrease, the report highlighted.

Ironically, the people that criticized Biden's release of oil non-stop here dont appear to have a problem with Trump draining the SPR to its lowest level in 43 years.
