The problem in places like NYC is from entrenched rot from corrupt figures like Adams or Cuomo, that is why someone like Mamdani appeals to the local electorate.
Funny, New York and Chicago have elected corrupt leaders for decades. Mamdani is another one. You don't get to these Mayoral positions without massive corruption because it's the unions and large business interests that are running the show.
He's definitely not getting the endorsement of large business interests, who have spent millions endorsing Cuomo. He has the support of many unions, and some but not all leading Democrats, for instance Schumer and Jeffries have not endorsed him.

You drank the Kool Aid then, this guy comes from a very wealthy family, he didn't get that by giving it away.
yet in politics there's always something to be said for a waay outside the box underdog, dontcha think (don't answer that) signed, unfiltered village idiot

I know, hard to believe people might vote for a rich kid from a wealthy family who might be corrupt, right?

His father was a lifetime academic and Columbia prof, his mother a movie director whose last film was from 2016. By NY standards, that's an upper middle class background.
Mamdani's weak spot is the "defund the police" and naive left takes on criminality, but in a city where the average rent for a 2-bdr apt is $5,500, cost of living is the primary concern for the main constituency. 68% of New Yorkers are renters.

Our POTUS has been thoroughly vetted with multiple fradulent Lawfare lawsuits with dozens of crooked lawyers going so far as to change current-day laws to target him, and still they come up empty. Russia Hoax, outted Deep State, and Trump was actually an FBI asset in taking down Jeffrey Epstein. All triggered to protect Hillary Clinton and the Laptop(s) from Hell?

Post of the day.
Democrats become extremely wealthy only after they enter government and earn federal wages.
NYC Mayoral Shake-Up: Cuomo Surging, Mamdani on the Ropes
Former governor and now independent NYC mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo is suddenly back in the fight trailing far-left Zohran Mamdani by just 13 points in the latest poll.
The data shows that if Republican Curtis Sliwa drops out, Cuomo could actually win overtaking Mamdani, the self-described Muslim socialist who's been running a campaign straight out of the Bernie playbook.
Cuomo took to X saying:
"The path is now clear: This is a two-person race between me and Mamdani. As voters learn more about the stakes, they are rallying behind proven leadership over dangerously inexperienced extremism."
He added:
"The choice could not be clearer: Experienced, effective leadership that delivers for all New Yorkers or ideological division and inexperience."
Looks like New York's tired of the radical experiment. Even in the bluest city in America, voters may be choosing competence over chaos.

If Cuomo was anywhere close to providing "experienced, effective leadership", Mamdani would never have been a thing. Cuomo is the embodiment of the inner rot and dysfunctionality in the big blue cities.
I agree about the race being tight, which I thought would be the case all along. Sliwa is probably going to drop out soon in exchange for a good payoff and put his weight behind Cuomo, same as Adams.
I'm surprised no decent person wants to step up and fix the largest city in the US with all the problems it has but again, I think it's telling how the only people running essentially are a communist and corrupt politician. The Unions have failed the people of New York City.
Spending another great weekend walking around NYC with the family. Hitting Soho, the Village, and Midtown on this trip. Great, fun, safe, walkable city.
Looking forward to Trump declaring it a war zone after the election and sending in his fascist brownshirts.
I'm not sure I would call a poll that has Cuomo down by 13 points an encouraging one for him. Sure, he might get a boost if the Republican drops out but it's not safe to assume that any Republican in NYC wants to vote for Andrew Cuomo. I'm guessing most of them still hate him because of the COVID stuff; I suspect you'll get a lot of people just staying home if their choices are Cuomo or a Democratic Socialist.

They're going to spend millions telling every Bronx grandma that Mamdani is the love child of Pol Pot and Osama Ben Laden. I think it will be close.
In NYC, more than 350,000 people are homeless, with the vast majority living in temporary arrangements like shelters or "doubled-up" with friends and family. This number includes over 130,000 people sleeping in city shelters each night and thousands more sleeping unsheltered in public spaces. The number of homeless people has reached its highest level in nearly a century.
Breakdown of NYC's homeless population:
In shelters: Over 130,000 people sleep in public shelters each night.
This includes 45,665 children and 37,517 single adults.
Over 48,000 of those in shelters are "new arrivals," often asylum seekers.
Doubled-up: More than 200,000 people are temporarily staying in the homes of others.
Unsheltered: Thousands more are living on the streets, in subway stations, or in encampments. The number of people living unsheltered reached 4,140 in January 2024, the highest level since 2005.
Yet another example of the so-called "defenders of democracy" showing how much they actually hate democracy.
I do love though how in California you have Katie Porter apoplectic at the thought of her needing Trump voters to win in California while Cuomo is begging for Trump voters in New York.
