Poland received a steady stream of huge subsidies from the EU and became the main low-cost manufacturing center for Germany and other western European countries. Poland for example was the largest Ikea manufacturing center for decades. Venezuela's economy on the other hand was strangled by US sanctions.

Also, NYC has specific issues that neither Poland nor Venezuela have. The average rent in NYC is over $5,000, while in Warsaw it is $1,200.

This is predictable. If Trump has the cameras at the meeting, his wingman, Igor Vance, will be with him and they intend a Reality TV beatdown of the mayor elect a la Zelensky, which will include Trump's quiver full of 10 year old boy on the playground insults. It will be a great diversion from the issues sinking Trump in the polls.

Unlike the press corps. that stand mute as the insults rain down on them, the mayor elect will respond. Trump and Vance are unarmed in a battle of wits so Trump will pull the plug on the drama and have security usher Mamdani to the exit.

Mamdani is pretty good at those situations, quick on his feet and not as thick as Zelenski, Trump is not likely to get good PR out of that meeting.

I know there are a lot of idiots out there, but I didn't think any of them were stupid enough to respond to something in public without doing at least a cursory investigation of the situation.

The point here is that, if you understand what arabic numerals are, you would know right away without any need for further investigation what the original joke was all about.

The fact that the joke flew over the head of the Loomers is both quite funny and telling.

I realize all that. What I was trying to say was that I find it mystifying that someone in the public wouldn't have some sort of pre-posting protocol that would prevent this sort of thing from happening and that she's too stupid or maybe arrogant to have one.
