What is your evidence that Mamdani is a crook?

Rent control in NYC is going to help a whole lot more people than it will hurt, this is a place where around 70% are renters, and the average rent is $4K... Other policies that Mamdani advocates, like $30 minimum wage, might indeed be economically counterproductive. We can revisit this in 2 or 3 years.

No evidence other than the promises he makes many times aren't even something the mayor of a city can legally do, like protecting his "citizens" from ICE.

The hard-line leftists (like Yogi, I assume) are already getting upset about him moderating on various issues, but the truth is that if you want to get elected as a socialist in America you probably have to do that to some degree. You can't win on left-wing votes alone. Bernie Sanders and AOC are practical people and realize this too. Maybe in some distant future where the US is more socialism-friendly this will no longer be the case, but that's how it is now. The normies still vote.

Record turnout, early results indicate that Mamdani will be announced a winner fairly soon.

It looks like a lot of the Sliwa vote went to Cuomo, which is going to lead to a narrower than expected (vs the polls) win in the high single digit.

Zohran is just over 50%, It wouldn't have changed the outcome. Sliwa only got 7%, so most of his voters did go to Cuomo. Those 7% are a kind of protest vote against both Zohran and Cuomo.

Mamdani declared Big Apple Mayor.

She gets votes. A little centrist for my taste (I voted for Fulop in the primary) but I'm proud to have helped her flip our district from red to blue in 2018 even though our district was considered a safe red seat at the time. I knocked on my fair share of doors and cut the biggest political check I've ever cut.
