Russia, Iran, and China are funding the lobbies to oppose datacenters.

This is even reported by the very liberal NY Times.

In the end it won't matter. AI will acquire a taste for Chinese, Persian, Russian and American.

Only democrats oppose AI datacenters (a position being funded by Russia, Iran, and China).

Republicans are fine with them, as long as they not in their neighborhoods. Build as many as you want in wealthy areas. It's only right, the rich get all the benefits.

Leftists/Dems accuse Russia to be behind every nefarious conspiracy, while rightists/GOPers accuse China.

In terms of data centers, quick results:
Current Capacity and Counts
  • U.S. Capacity: Estimated at roughly 53.7 gigawatts (GW) of IT power capacity, representing about 44% of the global total. [1]
  • China Capacity: Estimated at roughly 19.6 to 31.9 gigawatts (GW) depending on tracking metrics, making up about 16% to 26% of global capacity. [1, 2]
  • Facility Totals: The U.S. operates over 5,300 to 5,400 data centers, compared to roughly 450 tracked in China, reflecting a heavier concentration of commercial hyperscale infrastructure in America. [1, 2]
