The unfortunate truth about Pulisic is that he just gets hurt too much. Had a lot of promise and sometimes still shows it but that next injury is always around the corner. Too bad.
I agree with this. He looked great coming into the tournament and in the first half against Paraguay. But he is a small guy and is prone to muscular injuries. It is too bad, it is not his fault. Reyna is also a top player whose leg injuries have robbed him of his speed, and he is only 23.
I think that Pulisic does not like being so much in the spotlight. He would be better and the team would better (of course) if he was the fifth best player. McKennie, on the other hand, loves the attention, and I think it motivates him.
It is an 11 players game. We need to be strong at all 11 positions. Belgium exploited us where we were weak, among other things. Until the round of 16 good coaching can hide weaknesses, but in that round, the truth comes out.
One player will never save us. As good as Mbappe or Yamine Lamal is, we would not win the tournament with either. We need constant improvement. Right now I think we need to replace Ream (Trusty), Adams (Sullivan), Dest (Gozo), and maybe Freese (Kochen). And we need more big games. Sometimes we play in the Copa America, the South American championship, and I hope we do again soon.
