Another winnable game that got away thanks to an incompetent coach. Just fire him, you'll get more alumni to attend games. Even if we lose those games, we will know you're at least trying. How many more losses do you need to see? He's given up on this program a long time ago. Call one of these billionaire alumni and have them talk to Nick Saban.

I literally came to the forum to check if Wilsux had been fired, yet.

Anyone got $10.8 million to sack this guy?

We are maybe 2-3 seasons away from being $500M in stadium debt for an FCS team. The best time to fire Wilcox was 5-6 years ago, the next best time is today. anything much beyond this new low of a season is just throwing matches on the gas soaked remains of our FBS program

So unless he gets sacked tomorrow, the only other benchmark is Stanford. And why dump him with one game to go after we play Furd?

Do you really think Ron will use the outcome of Big Game as a basis for retaining Wilcox?

No. I'm saying he's going to finish it out. Regardless of the Stanford result. We could have won today. So, there is a basis for sacking him. But if we go and lose to Louisville - well then that just meets expectations. So we're not going to fault him for that. All that's left is Furd and SMU. Its a benchmark game because it always is and is probably why he's been HC for so long apart from Admin apathy. Makes no difference at this point. Wait till the end of the season and pay him off.

They are too busy investing in AI that will take our jobs and then murder us….as they escape to another galaxy with their trillions……being hunted by their moneymaker.

Maybe for the SMU game we can get a plane to fly overhead and airdrop some mail to Ron on the field

YES ! We need to package hundreds of letters that read fire wilcox and drop it right on top of the stadium during a flyover and make sure it drops right on ron !

"Commanders must alter their strategy for long-term stability

"It's easy to see why Adam Peters took the approach he did when he was named the Commanders' general manager in 2024. Inheriting a roster with an utter void of developing talent thanks to Ron Rivera's draft blunders, the only solution was to bring in stopgap veterans to fill the holes."

Hugh Freeze is gone, let's do the same with Wilcox.

Dear Ron,
Please fired Justin Wilcox, I don't even use the word coach, because he's undeserving of such a word. A coach inspires, motivates, and guides athletes. Wilcox does none of that, he's too busy coming up with excuses on the side. These kids need a leader, a mentor, and a true coach that can them reach their potential.

Sincerely,
Joe Oski (We're 2nd cousins)

JW may be allowed the dignity of finishing it out, but that look on his face at the post-game presser told me that he has tossed it in. He's becoming despondent.

We are getting mowed down next weekend but that kind of attitude is going to send us into a spiral and Ron wants to just ride that to the end, that is nuts

If the former is dependent on the latter, I highly doubt it because any sane person looking at our program knows a change is needed and if Ron has not seen that yet, who knows when he comes around to tossing Wilcox, let alone taking over as coach

Is anything going to surprise us at this point? And it's exactly what I'm saying. We're anticipating getting blown out next weekend. So - there is no change in form. No surprises. Wilcox will meet expectation. And Stanford after that. He wins that one - he gets to finish it out. And then we go down to SMU. The more critical question is whether a two win finish will guarantee a 9th season. Rivera will point to the 7 wins and say - we're headed in the right direction - let's give it one more go.

I'm beginning to question if RR is up to the job of GM. The fact that he hasn"t fired Wilcox yet indicates a lack of sound judgment and indecisiveness.

What will it take is the question, getting slammed at Louisville, losing the Axe, seeing an empty stadium for Senior Day against SMU?

He'll have had the regular season. We don't have to worry about a post season (if we beat Furd). With 6 wins, RR will fire him then. He knows how small the window will be to find a good guy and get him under contract. Let Harsin or Rolo coach the bowl game, if we get there.

I could understand RR thinking he can play this hand another year and hope things get better from mediocrity, and then making a move next year w another contract year off the books.

So basically have Wilcox be a lame duck in 2026, with this schedule and maybe no JKS?

That would be the nail in the coffin. We had 30k fans show up for a ranked team on a perfect day yesterday. If Wilcox is here next year, it's over.

And that would leave literally 2 seasons to correct things before the next realignment begins, we would be up a ****ing creek

It's a great chance for Wilcox to tie Dykes with a 1-11 season

Honestly, that is probably our only win. And with a season like that, Rivera will have the cover he needs to sack Wilcox - no hard feelings. Rivera will show he's a man of honor. With a season like the next one, Rivera will say, "we just need to make a change. We thank Justin for all he's given us. And now we need to move in a new direction for our alumni and fans".

He could pull the pin early next season (say 1-6) and have first crack at available coaches.

That's just plain embarrassing. If that doesn't motivate Rivera to take immediate action, he's not the man that many think he is.

We only needed to be as good as Duke to be projected to have an 11 win season (taking home field advantage into account). Huge opportunity squandered. Instead we are #95 and will probably have to win a hard fought Big Game against a terrible Stanford team to finish 6-6.
