We could have used 6 fouls worth of GP II aggressive D in 4th. Warriors got F'd by his deliberately inflicted injury.

Very True.

I've watched the Celtics during the playoffs and Derrick White is a game-changer.
He comes of the bench and can score 3's when Boston needs them the most.
He had 21 last night off the bench.
He's also hot and cold, though. He hit some contested threes in this game that you can't expect him to hit all the time.

Sure, but come on!
If the W's have to rely on their final signing… if we are going to blame last night's game on one guy?

I'd have been super pissed if Ja had continued to go off and we lost to the grizzlies, because Ja is unique offensively and Gary is unique defensively. But last night didn't cry out for "we need Gary NOW!" W's got much bigger problems at this point.

There were a couple of stupid turnovers late in the game at critical times.
Like when Iggy drove hard to the right base line and was well defended and threw the ball (away) back out to the top of the key. He had picked up his dribble and literally had to throw the ball (wildly) up in the air.

We had 14.
They had 12.

Lol, Eddie House from San Leandro! Ha! I saw him light it up at St Mary's in the NorCal championship game. But I told my wife he'd only be a college player, because of his size.
I love that little personal story - in my face!!

I disagree.
GP2 would have had an impact.
And I dont think that Bearister is blaming last night's loss on one guy.

I'm just saying, we have more to worry about than GP absence.

C'mon Tom!

Kendall Perkins is an F-ING moron.
He's the one that tried to pick a fight (from the bench) with Steph (2018) vs the Cavs and has always HATED the Dubs.

He averaged 5.4 points per game during his 15 seasons in the NBA.
He won a Championship with the Celtics in 2008 when he scored 7 points per game averaging 24.5 minutes per game.

But he was correct when he said the Celtics were on the W's like diapers on a baby - all up into them.

No post threat, just extend out, and the athletic advantage protects against the blow by. Again, only Wiggins went up over the top, and Steph can get his inside, but Klay, dray and looney are not going to beat you on dribble penetration.
It's 5 out vs 5 out. W's have a problem!

I think there was a clip of Smart coaching up a teammate to start their defensive set up into them rather than sagging initially.

Yeah, here:

White hit one in particular with curry into him and his footwork seemingly wrong that I thought was amazingly lucky. But, hey, great bucket!

Our most productive player off the bench was Porter, with 12.

I watched a lot of the Celtics playoff games. White is a stand out performer.
He is one of those guys that while you are watching a game you say, "That guy is good." ….and this is coming from a guy that hates headbands. Gosh I wish my favorite player, Klay, would lose his*

*Maybe my negative association goes back to the Jason Kapono led fully headbanded Bruin team that the Bears beat at Haas. Those headbands looked particularly stupid on a losing team.

You mean the 3 that White hit over Curry in the 4th quarter? That was a great shot.

The Warriors' problem is: That was the only 3-pt attempt the Warriors contested in the 4th quarter. On every 3 that Horford hit in the 4th quarter, he was as wide open as he would have been in pre-game warmups.

Ok let's calm down before we anoint Derrick white as the next ray allen.

He's basically Cody Ross. He shot 31% from 3 for the regular season. And guess what? For the playoffs, he's shooting 31% from 3.

He's just caught fire for the last couple of weeks.

So the warriors strategy of giving him space wasn't necessarily wrong. With that said, I'm sure the adjustment is coming on both him and horford.

If it were me (and this is assuming gp2 isn't really available) have Wiggins lock down Tatum and stop over helping on drives and cover shooters. And if jaylen scores 50, so be it.

The warriors are going to have to consider putting draymond on Jaylen and klay on horford.

It's not ideal because you want draymond to be more of a free safety type, but they did something similar against Dallas/Brunson so it's definitely an option.

Alright let's pump this thing up after we calm down. Warriors in 5.

curry and the warriors were shooting the lights out in the first quarter, but it concerned me their lead was pretty small

they continued to shoot very well in the 2nd quarter but ended the half down??

that really concerned me

the 3rd quarter gave me a boost as they got back the lead and I think of the warriors as a second half team

but then the wheels fell off in the 4th

warriors defense was to stop penetration, but Celtics burned that strategy''

my guess is they help less on jason, so he gets his usual average, but we hold others down better

will that work?

not sure. poole is a major defensive liability against a Celtics team who likes to drive, and without help, not sure our defenders can stay in front of their man

interesting note about poole.... he is an alpha dog who doesn't believe he should defer to the other players, and had a bad attitude about not getting a lot of run in the 4th. but he needs to understand that his bad defense offsets his good offense. I don't think we see him with the warriors next season because of bad chemistry

Interesting final paragraph.
My thought is that Kerr needs to ask Klay to take a back seat and come off the bench. Klay needs to play the right role. He's suffered two major injuries and is older, has lost a step. Nobody stays young forever. Iggy was asked to come off the bench. How about it.

Where did you hear this?

I have the same question. Never heard a word about Poole being a diva before.
HoopDreams
How long do you want to ignore this user?
First time I heard about Poole was earlier in the playoffs when warriors were shooting a tech

Steph walked up to the line to shoot it, but Poole was mad because he thought he should shoot it (he actually has a better FT % this year). He and Steph were jawing back and forth and poole was visibly very heated

Color guy said this wasn't the first time this season that happened

Then after game 1 loss, NBA radio talk show talked about how poole was extremely upset that he didn't get more run in 4th. Both commentators backed Kerr, saying things like, 'Poole has to understand…"

Seems like poole thinks he should be a starter, and if he's not next year, I'd imagine he's out

I guess we'll see. The new death lineup hasn't really worked out in the playoffs.

Since he's extension eligible this summer, they would likely either trade him or try to extend him. If they don't trade him, they're likely keeping him one way or another. A sign and trade next summer wouldn't work since GS is way over the cap and they would hard cap themselves if they go that route.
HoopDreams

Yeah, maybe right

They will want to keep Looney and his value exploded during the playoffs

Salary cap is going to be an issue

I watched all but 2-3 W's games.
I saw the time when Poole wanted the FT. It didn't come off on tv as anything other than a chuckle point.

I also saw the q&a where Steph was asked when he'd turn over the FT roll to Poole and he said slowly and defiantly "Nev-Var".
At the time I thought that wasn't too cool but Monty Poole or someone else suggested that was just Steph's own internal mind game. Sounded reasonable as a context excuse.

Steph and Dray have praised Poole big time. Kerr and Klay, too. Everyone

Your interpretation sounds to me like a much blown out of proportion deal.

But I'll add this: Poole has the opportunity to have the final word. He played like crap Thursday! If he does that again…
On the contrary, he can score 30 and win a title. It's all up to him.

Late add: Steph's playoff ft% tell me he's feeling the pressure from Poole.
Still, absent some crazy trade scenario with another team offering up someone unexpected on the cheap, Poole will be back! If he's a primadonna, he won't sign extension with GS this summer and walks next year. I don't see that happening.

As much improved as looney has been this last month or so, I don't see looney getting a big offer from other teams. His best value is with these W's. I think he knows it and will be back!!

Reminder that Poole will be a restricted free agent after next season. Dubs can match whatever offer he gets but can't do a sign and trade (or will get hard capped). So it's either a trade him before the deadline (most likely this summer if they trade him) or keep him (what I think they'll do). They won't let him walk for nothing.

Thank you for the clarification of FA vs RFA.
I think they'll simply sign him to an extension this summer.
If they end up trading him after that, then so. But I don't think they are going to sign and trade this summer.
He'll focus on improving his D just like he worked on his O. Still a work in progress, and studs don't just show up.

Ann Killion, in the Chronicle, opined today something to the effect that, "this is increasingly looking like a series that will go the distance". Funny, but I had just been thinking that this is increasingly looking like a series that will end fairly soon.

Granted, Sunday evening could bring a whole new prospective.

first, I'm a fair weather warriors fan, and only typically watch the finals. this year I watched about a third of the warriors play off games, and usually only the second half

so pay little attention to me

this is the time I saw that I was referring to, but I've now heard NBA talk show discuss it again. you gotta understand they just pick these things up so have something to talk about, so its not me who is 'blowing it ouy of proportion"
