Back on topic, who is JD Vance? This might be encouraging to some on the Left. I certainly am, Trump could have done far worse.

This is another quality article that details his beliefs, including why he converted from anti-trump to one of his supporters.

It should be noted that a lot of the "staunch conservatives" are less than thrilled with Vance.

A drop in the bucket of the filthy money that gets funneled into our elections, most of which goes to Democrats.

Some of his "populist" economic ideas are interesting and I don't entirely disagree, but his stance on the 2020 election sounds kind of nuts to me:
Quote:

The vice-presidential thing look, here's what this would've looked like if you really wanted to do this. You would've actually tried to go to the states that had problems; you would try to marshal alternative slates of electors, like they did in the election of 1876. And then you have to actually prosecute that case; you have to make an argument to the American people.
He's advocating that state legislatures should have pushed forward slates of electors who would vote to throw the state's electoral votes to the candidate who did not win the popular vote. This sounds like a terrible idea.

Vance's opinions are irrelevant. We know they change with the wind and VP's have minimal impact on policy.

Is he an economic Democrat who wants to control women? Somebody who believes in all the things President Biden did economically, but Republicans pretend didn't happen? Does he think Trump is Hitler? Who cares?

His job is to preserve the MAGA fascist movement in 2028 regardless of the vote.

This doesn't make sense at all. He has only asked that question once or twice on this board. Why would you suspect that is the only way he gets wood? That is incredibly stupid aunbearian logic.

…Vance tweet from October 2016. "My god what an idiot," he wrote, referring to Trump.

Vance expressed a similar sentiment in other interviews and since-deleted tweets from that time, including publicly mulling the idea of supporting Hillary Clinton, calling Trump "noxious" and "reprehensible."

Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler. "America's Hitler."

I am voting for and have given money to RFKjr. It is utterly hilarious to see Democrats bemoan Musk's money and influence. For several election cycles now the money from billionaires flowing to Dems has dwarfed the money flowing to Reps. Just factually. Tech in particular has invested in Dems over Reps. Both parties are irredeemable, but the Democratic Party in particular is ruled by big money from corporations and billionaires.

Elon Musk says that Democrats gave a "very cold shoulder" to Tesla and SpaceX, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Is he expecting that Republicans will help him sell cars? You can't even buy a Tesla in Texas.

I have a theory: Many tech billionaires, having made more than they can even spend, are now turning towards altruism and want to help reelect Donald J. Trump, champion of the working class.

^ Net positive for the GOP to have her speak. She got a fair amount of votes and she basically recommended that they hold their nose and vote for Trump.

Back when this looked like a very, very close election, every little bit could make the difference. And still, ya never know what could happen in the next three months (Trump could be comatose and Newsom could survive an assassin's bullet!).

California losing two leading companies, and likely someday Tesla Fremont.

New York Post: How Elon Musk fired back after Gavin Newsom said tech giant 'bent the knee' to Trump

"Elon Musk and California Gov. Gavin Newsom escalated their war of words after the billionaire said his companies SpaceX and X would leave the state over its passage of a controversial student gender identity law...."

"At the time, Trump claimed that Musk was so desperate to secure federal subsidies for his projects at Tesla and SpaceX that "I could have said, 'drop to your knees and beg,' and he would have done it."

"You bent the knee," wrote Newsom, ..."

"You never get off your knees," Musk fired back in response.

OUCH.
