"Democrats, these are your issues: education, race, the environment."

"And I say this with love: you're losing to the Waffle House, car-on-the-lawn states.

Considering Kim and Calvert got a combined 55% of the vote, hard to see how this is a big deal

As always in California, be careful with making any election calls right now. The later ballots still have to be counted and tend to skew more heavily blue.

Reportedly on the state website they have 32 or 37 days to count votes.

Hard to say because there's really no reasonable explanation as to why it takes so long.

California proving to the world that it is the least efficiently run government body?

I agree that it takes way too long for votes to be counted in this state but that is hardly evidence of fraud. Most likely it's the usual bureaucratic and legalistic nonsense that makes a lot of stuff take too long here.

Like mass mail-in ballots and no voter ID requirement.

There's no evidence of fraud but if you're going to commit fraud, this is the way to do it.

Will there be an eventual schism of the party?

Will the Republican Party cease to exist because of the irreparable injury it has inflicted on our country both at home and abroad?

How much longer will the Republican electorate overlook the disconnect between the words they hear from their leaders vs the reality of the consequences of the policies?

It will be interesting to see who successfully carries the mantle of "true" MAGA going forward and how electable that is. Every reason to think they could win a primary in the Republican Party they parasitoided.

The is provincial thinking- they control a majority of state houses, the presidency, senate , house and Supreme Court and you think they will cease to exist? Of course the fortunes of parties ebb and flow but the country is at worst a 50/50 proposition for them and the Dems don't offer much in competition.

The US is built towards a 2-party system so there will regularly be schisms and reformations on both sides as the coalitions change. This is typical.

Sure but I see left as two different beasts that can't coexist for much longer, hence the ever growing presence of the DSA

Like in the GOP now, which is shedding its independent, libertarian, populist and blue collar elements that were swayed by Trump in 2024?

Possibly but I'm specifically asking about the democratic party based on the info from the poll. If you'd like to respond to my question with info, and not a different question, feel free

Republicans will be in this spot at some point too. I have a hard time seeing the MAGA coalition surviving after Trump leaves the scene.

Schisms in the GOP? There always have been schisms on the right, the Senate majority leader himself is trying to thwart Trump.

The left, however, votes like a unified block, kind of like a cult.

Trump's approval nationwide is in the low 40's. By midterms, it will track closer to 50%.
