Agree on #1. The inflation was caused by paying people for not working and the breaks in the supply chain, which caused too many people competing for too few goods. That and keeping the interest rates down.
Conventional wisdom says that a recession hurts society more than inflation, but tell that to the 100% of the people who notice that they are paying higher prices. We are again reminded that, politically, inflation is a killer.
