Congratulations to Imane Khelif on her gold medal. She is the best.

She won each round 10-9. Where are the haters who said she was a danger to other boxers?

Where are the haters who said it isn't unfair because she has lost a handful of matches in her career?

10-9 seems pretty even

Maybe the other lady is also a man, huh?

Two women with this rare genetic condition were the best female boxers in the world. It is not a coincidence, considering they are competing against 3 billion possible XX adversaries.

It is also not a coincidence that Victor Wembenyama is good at basketball given he has a rare genetic condition that allowed him to grow to be 7'4".

He and other men of unusual height are still not allowed to compete in the women's events, for good reason.

Yeah. They don't have a vagina.

But having testes is apparently not a problem to compete in the women's events.

Thanks for playing.

How many genders do you think there are?

Two genders cover well over 99% of humanity.

Michael Phelps should not have been allowed to compete in the Olympics. His body only creates half the lactic acid of most people. This is not a coincidence.

He is also double-jointed. He should have been forced to compete against only other freaks like himself.

If there was a category for folks with double-jointedness, he definitely should have competed there.

Jealous?

Help yourself. You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to punch women in the face.

Cal's Weinberg goes BLOCK. BLOCK, BLOCK in the shootout!
Had 16 saves in regulation.
Youngest goalie.

3 NCAA Titles and now an Olympic Bronze!

Cal alums Johnny Hooper (above) and Luca Cupido each scored once during Regulation.

USA coach Dejan Udovii had praise for Weinberg.

"Great guy," Udovii said. "He was going (through) some ups and downs. He was born in 2001. … I think he's the youngest goalie by far, goalie here. We are expecting from him in the future. We work with him. We got two, three people who are working with him on a daily basis: tactics, preparation, mental preparation."

Said 3-time Olympian Alex Bowen:

"They have a history of water polo; it's their national sport. It means a lot to beat them," he said. They had the last full minute of possession. We went block, block, block. It's incredible. It's a testament of the grit and determination of the team and the willingness to die for each other."

"Cults don't end well. They really don't."

Yep, since that last image, the US won two golds (Women's Basketball and Cycling) and China won one (Weightlifting) to bring both countries to 40, for whatever that is worth.

Heavy emphasis on swimming in the Olympics, the aussies have always been good at it being a warm weather coastal population. Ironically they completely missed out on the 2 rugby medals this time.

One contributing factor is that Germany's large immigrant population is mostly from Turkey and west Asia, whereas in France, the UK and Netherlands the immigrants are mostly from Africa, and they tend to gravitate towards and excel in sports a lot more. For instance, the Black population in France is nearly 10x larger than in Germany.

It's also true that there has been less of a government interest and support for Olympic sports in Germany, vs for instance in the UK where their government sees sports as having an important cultural and political function (panem et circenses).

How Germany hopes to win more Olympic medals again DW 11/09/2021

Although Germany has a large population, those demographic numbers tend to skew older, and success at the olympics requires a large population of 15 to 35 year olds (or there abouts).
Cal88
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Relative to other European countries like Holland, which has had more gold medals and has less than one quarter the population of Germany, the German population pyramid isn't that different.

It was a great Olympics; I really enjoyed it! Personal favs for me were seeing the US do really well in Track & Field and watching Steph Curry be Steph Curry again in those last two games!

I think my kids were getting sick of hearing me hum and whistle the Olympics music, but they'll appreciate the past two weeks more starting today, because it's their first day back to school.

HER did a wonderful job singing the National Anthem as a prelude to LA 2028.

And the band PHOENIX rocked the entire stadium.
Guest appearance by Ezra.

And then there was the dramatic entrance by Tom Cruise to pick up the Olympic Flag that segued into performances by Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Venice Beach!

A very special evening for all of the Olympians no matter if you won a medal or not.
Thank You Paris!
