Looks like we will finally get the September Jobs report 3 days after the Govt reopens.

Other September data, including retail sales, trade data, and the personal consumption expenditures price index, also will be released fairly quickly, as will official data on initial and continuing jobless claims.

Getting October data may be a whole another issue.
We might not get October's Retail Sales and CPI data until Dec. 18th.

If we get lucky, the Fed will have the November and December jobs report before their Dec. 9th and 10th meeting. Based on the timeline of data releases from the shutdown in 2013, those reports should come out on Dec. 8th.

The Fed Might Not Get Key Data for the December MeetingEven if the Shutdown Ends This Week

With so many people on ozempic, the person who did that 25% claim is basing it on the fact that people will eat less?

Interesting point, demand for food must be falling as 1 in 8 American adults are on Ozempic or other appetite suppressing equivalents.

Ozempic should sponsor and get naming rights to an SEC or Big-12 stadium.

AI Overview

Yes, studies confirm that the use of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Ozempic is linked to a quantifiable reduction in overall household grocery spending and a shift in food preferences.

Key Impacts on Grocery Demand
  • Overall Spending Decrease: Households with at least one GLP-1 user spend approximately 5.5% less on groceries within six months of starting the medication, with higher-income households cutting spending by as much as 9%. This translates to hundreds of dollars in annual savings per household.
  • Reduced Appetite: The drugs mimic a natural hormone that signals fullness to the brain and slows digestion, resulting in reduced hunger and a lower daily calorie intake.
  • Shift in Food Choices: Users tend to buy fewer high-calorie, high-fat, and high-sugar items, such as:
    • Salty snacks and chips
    • Sweet baked goods and cookies
    • Soft drinks and alcohol
Conversely, there are modest spending increases in healthier categories like fresh produce, yogurt, and lean proteins, though the primary effect is cutting out unhealthy items rather than significantly adding healthy ones.

Industry Response
The food industry and major retailers have acknowledged the trend and are beginning to adapt:
  • Retailer Observations: Executives from companies like Walmart have noted a "slight change" in food purchasing habits among users of these drugs.
  • Product Innovation: Some food manufacturers, like Nestl and Conagra Brands, are developing or labeling portion-controlled, high-protein, and fiber-rich meals specifically to target the changing needs of GLP-1 users.
  • Strategic Repositioning: Companies that rely heavily on impulse purchases of snacks and sweets face the most risk and are having to reassess their product portfolios, portion sizes, and packaging strategies.

Yup.
Apparently the Orange Man also has reading comprehension stuck at the 6th grade level.

No pecan pie, no sweet potatoes, no whipped topping. no Hawaiian rolls, no Ocean Spray cranberries, and no stuffing from scratch. Instead, they just give you boxed Stove Top stuffing.

If you total up all of the "missing" items from 2024, they still add up to about $55.

Only MAGA MORONS would believe the Orange Man.

12.5% ??????

I'm shocked!!!!
And your addition of it having an impact on consumption makes sense, but if companies are seeing a sales impact (wall street level impact) … well, that's really something!!!!

I guess I missed the stock buy here just like I missed the tip on the upcoming little blue pill.

1. President Trump inherited a tough economy w record inflation, and fraudulent Autopen job creation of over 1.5 million jobs that never existed - on the backs of Trillions of expanded deficit spending and 10 - 22 million new government-dependent illegal immigrants.

It takes time to turn that ship. Record tariff revenues are pouring in, really historic, as well as reshoring some manufacturing. Both are really the near miracles.

2. I simply updated the alleged current thinking about the $2,000 tariff rebates, which would give a boost to the economy, working families, and midterm elections.
