While I acknowledge that gas has gone up due to cold weather and recent sanctions on Russian energy to bring them to the negotiating table, I wonder why the gas station you just posted replaced their sign causing it to look completely different. Why is that? Why did they get a brand new sign?

Clearly two different stations.

The one above is clearly Valero while the other in my first post is Union 76 (ConocoPhillips) hence the orange.
Both are in the same city.

PS. The Union 76 station actually had Premium for only $3.99 in early January but it was not a "market" price given that the station had finally re-opened from a 2-year construction project (new tanks) and they were just trying to get people back into the gas station again.

Photo of same station from the other side of the sign on January 7th, 2025:

You are comparing an economy gas station in December to a recent Premium gas station. Are you as bad at shopping for gas as you are at buying eggs? Is there someone near by who can do your shopping for you? You appear to need lots of help.

What in God's name could you possibly be talking about???

UNION 76 = CONOCO PHILLIPS

CONOCO PHILLIPS is not an "economy" brand of fuel.

Valero and Union 76 are both premium "top-tier" fuels.

Valero is a cheaper brand because it costs less. Exxon Chevron are at the top, then 76 and a few other premium brands, then some mid-level brands like Valero, then the super cheap stuff. Is there anything else you need help with?

Does Valero routinely run $1.20 per gallon cheaper than Union 76? Are you trying to ignore the $1.20/gallon increase by pointing to a probably 10-15 cent/gallon difference between brands?

As usual, you're making zero sense and conflating "premium brands" with "cheaper" fuel.

I repeat: Valero is recognized as a TOP TIER gasoline.

TOP TIER means that they must adhere to rigorous fuel detergency performance requirements.

Here, let me help you since you're totally clueless about this and making a fool out of yourself

Cheaper gas doesn't meet those detergency standards because they don't have the higher levels of additives that are required by auto manufacturers like GM, BMW, Toyota, Honda, VW, and Audi - - - given their advanced engine designs.

Hence, these auto manufacturers came up with a new standard for gasoline with greater deposit control performance. These deposit control additives are not allowed to contain metallic additives to make it a cleaner fuel and better for emissions.

These additives help keep engine components clean like fuel injectors and intake valves in engine designs that are much more complicated that previous generations of automobiles.

You're knowledge base is terribly poor.
And because you can never admit that you're WRONG you look like a fool.

You clearly had no clue about the amount of ADDITIVES in gasoline otherwise you would have mentioned it in your "premium" gasoline claim.

You should stick to your "value" menu at Denny's.
It's the only thing you're educated about.

Way lists it at $4.78, which is roughly where it was in September.

As I said above, cold weather and energy sanctions on Putin to get him to the negotiating table have recently increased gas prices. Valero is generally a less expensive brand than 76. It is very diablo-like (silly) to post pics from two different stations.

No idea what makes a "premium" blend of gasoline with detergent additives that meets the criteria to be Top Tier fuel.

No idea that refineries in California are undergoing the annual transition between winter blend and spring blend, given CARB's rules.

Instead, youre babbling about Putin and cold weather.

"Treasury Intensifies Sanctions Against Russia by Targeting Russia's Oil Production and Exports"

https://gasprices.aaa.com/rising-oil-costs-bring-gas-prices-along-for-the-ride/

"Domestic gasoline demand is low, so why are pump prices creeping higher? Look at the cost of oil," said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. "Global oil prices have surged due to strong winter heating fuel demand and new U.S. sanctions against Russia's energy sector. Oil costs account for 56% of what you pay at the pump. So, more expensive oil leads to more expensive gas. But that said, there are still 26 states with averages below $3 a gallon for now."

Also, According to AAA, gas prices typically increase as we get closer to summer as refineries transition to a different blend of fuel. The agency also said an offline refinery in Northern California and seasonal maintenance are putting a strain on the supply of gas.

National gas prices have risen for the reasons I stated. They are even higher in CA due to recent refinery issues/maintenance.

Thnx.
