US Consumer Sentiment tumbled to near the lowest on record.

The preliminary November Sentiment Index from the University of Michigan dropped 3.3 points to 50.3, just above the June 2022 reading of 50.0 - - - the weakest in the U of M data base going back to 1978.

I think their poll is measuring confidence in presidency or politicians as much as consumption matters.

I should think '78 and '08 would be very low! Covid, too.

Trump's tariff News, definitely not good! Horrible leadership up top, but worst economy since 78? I mean, economy was good last year. It has flipped that much, other than lack of confidence at the top - he'll wreck everything!!!

I will need to examine this poll

Further, which of these polls is the contra indicator? I guess that's the retail investor confidence chart.

Trump isn't drawing the reserves down. He is just only slowly filling back up Biden's drawdown. Yes, I understand the WSJ, which apparently only you can afford, told you that Trump should be filling it up ASAP. It currently holds 409 million barrels, up from 394 million at end of 2024.

The budget bill passed by the U.S. Senate on Tuesday slashes the amount of money available to replenish the Strategic Petroleum Reserve even though President Donald Trump vowed on his first day in his second term to fill it "right to the top".

Only $171 million was in Trump's budget to refill the SPR.
The funding was from the Working Families Tax Cut.

That comes to a measly 3 million barrels at current prices.
Not even a drop in the bucket.
