Say what you want about Trump and I know you will but there has never been a president this accessible to the press. I hope that aspect continues with future presidents.

Good because Trump needed this slap down. Hopefully the Dems don't screw this up again with hearings and impeachments, and actually accomplish something, People voted for them to fix things and get stuff done. If they can do that, expect another blue wave in the 2028 Presidential election, because they simply can't say Trump, Trump Trump and win. Trump is a lame duck already.

Also, no one cares how accessible a President is to the press. They want them to accomplish things like an improved economy. Trump's policies have been a disaster., and it is nice to see the electorate finally hold a politician accountable.

You're entitled to your opinions but I think a president being accessible is one of the most important things a president can do in this day and age. Boomers aren't here for long and the youth rely on the constant feedback loop.

I've been patiently waiting ...

I heard there was a TSUNAMI that is interfering with updates.

If you were actually the republican you claim you are you wouldn't be celebrating this. Some republican losses, yes but not a total dem takeover. You've outed yourself.

Given the map, what exactly would have constituted a "total dem takeover" in your mind?

It's looking like this is the biggest midterm loss since maybe the 1940s.

I think you misunderstood my post. This is definitely a dem takeover.

I was saying a republican wouldn't be rooting for that.

Ahh, got it.

Problem is, a CULT invaded the GOP awhile back ago.
Only Tillis and Massie would ever stand up to Donald Trump.
The rest of the party became *****s and sycophants for Trump.

Not my GOP.

Massie was voted out and Tillis would have been if he ran for re election.

Has nothing to do with MY point.

They were the only ones to stand up to Trump while the rest of the GOP were *****s and sycophants.

Yes and if that had been enough they would have won or run for reelection.

Can't wait to see the republican in you finally come out now that dems have control of congress

It's always been there. Diablo and I have had many differences of opinion. But Diablo values decency and democratic values which the MAGA movement took the Republican party away from.

Yes.

Say YES to DECENCY and LOVE.

Cults don't end well. Think Jonestown.

They got tired of him dividing the country and never "owning" anything.

I agree it played a role, I don't believe it would have been enough on it's own to produce the results we saw last night.

I'm interested to see where the Republican party goes. They can embrace the America First crowd and actually mean it or they can ride the center.

I'm on a post limit still but that's my general feeling after last night.

DON'T LIMIT YOURSELF BOSS, WE NEED THE MAGAs here

Where is that fire you had a week ago? LOL

You can tell a lot about someone by how they win.

Kirk, I hope you were watching and that your mind has been changed.

This quote says all anyone needs to know about you. This is a disgusting post to make.

I've been very gracious in defeat and hope the best for America, I can't say the same for you.

Its early, but right now it looks like the HIGHER PRICES from tariffs and the war in the Middle East has not been a "small price to pay" for most American households.

Trump picked candidates are not doing well.

I stand by my statement but yes America appears to have spoken. America is great like that. I hope dems actually try to work to get things done instead of wasting the next two years talking about Trump.

Why the sudden change of heart? The only thing Trump did his first two years was steal, destroy landmarks, and insult Democrats. And Johnson kept the House out of sessions to protect Trump and Hegseth. Oh yeah, Trump did start a terribly ill-advised war..

It's easy to keep believing everything is going fine until an election happens and reality sets in.

I did not say I change my stance on things I've discussed here but it would be foolish to debate that Americans have spoken and they want a more centrist leadership.

I don't think you are going to change your political views. However, I will say this: over the last two years I think you have been consistently dismissive whenever I (or anyone else) has raised issues with Trump's policy choices and claimed they were not what the American people wanted: DOGE, tariffs, censorship, aggressive ICE enforcement, the Iran War, etc. Most of this was met with "this is what I voted for!" or "this is what Trump said he would do!" type comments from you, and then cherry-picking polls that said something different from what the majority of polls said.

Well, it turns out all of that stuff was unpopular and the majority of polls were right. Might be time to re-examine your priors.

And the dismissive and pedantic tone took away from any credibility or good faith engagement.

I posted my views and beliefs. Whether I'm the minority or majority doesn't change that fact. A majority of the country does agree with many of the things I posted about. Some clearly not. Doesn't change what my beliefs are. I hope it wouldn't change your beliefs either.

So many things Americans were sick of...

- ICE raids resulting in US citizens being killed... then blaming the citizens
- willy-nilly tariffs
- Elon Musk and other billionaires
- the idea of unfettered AI and the data centers
- prices going up (hey, it happens), but then Trump's talking "ballroom"
- mean "Quiet, Piggy" stuff
- promising less war, then unilaterally going after Iran

Partial list.

Now we'll see what the Dems can do. I'm glad we have the chance but I'm not super-confident about what'll happen. Whatever it is, it couldn't be half as bad as the last two years.

I think a lot of the things on your list could have been ignored by voters if the war in Iran was quicker or didn't happen and in turn gas prices didn't go up. Those two really killed Trump

You could be right on the younger generations needs, but might I remind you Trump just got trashed in an election, and that has to do with the economy and the ineptness of his administration, not communication.

I'm not at all saying his communication had anything to do with the election, positively or negatively. Obviously you need a good message to push and Americans made it clear they weren't buying it.

My point was that I hope future presidents have those same lines open, obviously with a better selling message attached.

The Republican Party will reform into something they call new but that still supports the billionaire class and Forever Wars and endless deficits. They will run on a campaign for "the working class" and "peace" and "balanced budgets". The people who voted 5 times for Bush and Trump will support it.

No democrat should care what you think. Unless Democrats abandon their values you will say they did it wrong.

Democrats support billionaires all the same. Both parties are, at the core, more the same than they are different

The Iran War was the nail in the coffin (as I said it would be when it started), but his approval was already falling because of all that other stuff.

It was falling but not enough to cause what we saw last night. Dems would have taken the house like normal midterms and republicans would have kept the senate. Add in Iran and gas prices and that did them in.

There was definitely a compounding effect and Iran was the last big thing.
