You folks will believe anything your cult tells you and ignore reality. Here is Trump in 2018 acknowledging the border needs Congressional action. That's because we have laws in place that should be changed. Biden will close the border today if the Republican Congress would act. But they won't. They would rather the border remain open for political purposes. Republicans putting themselves over the country is the norm.

Ah, the beauty of being a progressive. You don't have to remember anything; They are all too happy to tell you today everything you need to know about the past.

If you are a George Orwell 1984 fan, you may want to catch Tucker Carlson's "interview" of Putin, an expert practitioner of disinformation, a term and practice coined by Stalin (a major influence on Orwell when writing 1984).

I've had black friends for decades and happen to enjoy several activities that have a dominant African American presence ... and this still goes over my head. It sounds like some Progressives' idea on how to show a cultural bond with AAs. It's weird, it's odd, it's patronizing.

P S. I have never seen a friend of any hue break out a bottle of hot sauce from their purse / person.

This is so easy to refute.

From sos.ca.gov:

To register to vote in California, you must be

A United States citizen and a resident of California,

18 years or older on election day,

Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony,

and not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.

The AP does mention that San Francisco (and only San Francisco) does allow noncitizen parents to vote in local school board races, but they register separately and can't vote in any other race.

Only the State Supreme Court is currently stopping SF to allow full non-citizen local voting.

And more municipalities are certainly trying to allow noncitizens to vote. Santa Ana feels it is unfair to disenfranchise illegal immigrants, since they are a whopping 24% of their population.

Here are municipalities in other states:

District of Columbia
The District of Columbia Council passed the D.C. Noncitizen Vote Act in October 2022, allowing noncitizens to vote in local elections. Due to the District's non-state status, all of its legislation must be reviewed by Congress prior to adoption. The D.C. Noncitizen Vote Act overcame bipartisan opposition in the U.S. House of Representatives and passed its congressional review in March 2023.[9]

Advocates of the law argued that noncitizens have an interest in schools, public safety and other issues, and should therefore be allowed to weigh in on public policy decisions. Opponents argue that noncitizens do not have a fundamental right to vote or hold public office in the U.S. and that the legislation dilutes the voting power of U.S. citizens.[10]

In March 2023, a group of seven D.C. voters filed a lawsuit in D.C. Superior Court seeking an injunction to prevent the law from being enforced. The case has been moved to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and the litigation is ongoing as of June 2023.[9][10]

Maryland
Maryland's state constitution specifies that "every citizen of the United States, of the age of 18 years or upwards, who is a resident of the State as of the time for the closing of registration next preceding the election, shall be entitled to vote in the ward or election district in which the citizen resides at all elections to be held in this State."[11] The state constitution gives municipalities the authority to allow people outside those qualifications to vote without requiring state approval of such changes.[12]

The following Maryland municipalities allowed noncitizens to vote in local elections as of November 2023.

Barnesville
The Barnesville town charter defines qualified voters as "having resided therein for six months previous to any town election and being eighteen years of age."[13]

Cheverly
Any person over the age of 18 who has been a resident of Cheverly for at least 30 days at the time of the election and has not been convicted of a crime is eligible to register to vote in town elections.[14]

Chevy Chase Section 3
The charter of Chevy Chase Section 3 reads, "'Qualified Voter' shall mean any person who is a resident of Chevy Chase Section 3, without regard to citizenship, and is at least eighteen (18) years of age."[15]

Garrett Park
The Garrett Park town charter reads, "The town manager shall provide for the registration of voters in a flexible and available manner in order to encourage registration and voting, consistent with the policies adopted by ordinance and the rules and procedures specified by the election judges. Qualified persons may register by universal registration with either Montgomery County or the town, or may register only with the town, including residents who are not citizens of the United States, up to and including election day."[16]

Glen Echo
Glen Echo's town charter says the following: "Any person who is not a United States citizen, and (a) is a resident of the Town of Glen Echo, (b) is a lawful resident of the United States, and (c) except for the United States citizenship requirement, meets the voter qualifications provided in Section 501(a) may register to vote in Town elections."[17]

Hyattsville
The Hyattsville town website states, "Hyattsville residents who are not U.S. citizens, or do not wish to register with the State, may use the Hyattsville City Voter Registration Form."[18]

Martin's Additions
The Martin's Additions town charter says, "'Qualified Voter' is any person who owns property or any resident of Martin's Additions who is eighteen (18) years of age or over."[19]

Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier's city charter states that any person who has been a city resident for 30 days or more at the time of a local election, is at least 18 years old, has not been convicted of a felony offense or of buying and selling votes, and is not under mental guardianship may register to vote.[20]

Riverdale Park
Riverdale Park's town charter states, "(a) Every resident of the town who (1) has the Town of Riverdale Park as his or her primary residence, (2) is at least sixteen (16) years of age, (3) has resided within the corporate limits of the town for at least forty-five (45) days immediately preceding any nonrunoff town election, (4) does not claim the right to vote elsewhere in the United States, (5) has not been found by a court to be unable to communicate a desire to vote, and (6) is registered to vote in accordance with the provisions of 503 of this charter shall be a qualified voter of the Town."[21]

Somerset
The Somerset town charter says, "Every person who (1) is at least eighteen years of age, (2) has resided within the corporate limits of the town for fourteen days next preceding any election, and (3) is registered in accordance with the provisions of this Charter, shall be a qualified voter of the town. Every qualified voter of the town shall be entitled to vote at any or all town elections."[22]

Takoma Park
The Takoma Park city website states, "City residents who are not citizens of the United States can register to vote in Takoma Park elections by completing the Takoma Park Voter Registration Application."[23]

Vermont
The following Vermont municipalities allowed noncitizens to vote in local elections as of October 2023.

Burlington
On March 9, 2023, the city of Burlington approved a charter amendment extending the right to vote to its noncitizen residents. Although Governor Phil Scott vetoed the legislation, both chambers of the state legislature voted to override that veto on June 30. The law took immediate effect.[24][25]

Montpelier
On June 24, 2021, H177 was enacted into law, approving a Montpelier city charter amendment authorizing legal residents to vote in city elections. Although Governor Phil Scott vetoed the legislation, both chambers of the state legislature voted to override that veto. The law took immediate effect.[24][26]

Winooski
On June 24, 2021, H 227 was enacted into law, approving a Winooski city charter amendment authorizing legal residents to vote in city and school district elections. Although Governor Phil Scott vetoed the legislation, both chambers of the state legislature voted to override that veto. The law took immediate effect.[24][27]

Yet, we are talking about presidency here, so it's misinformation AGAIN.

But let's consider a small farming community with 3 landowners and 20 migrant pickers. Shall the 20 have zero local representation?
I know you'd say no. But then stop and think for a moment about why we have a democracy to begin with.
You guys miss the bigger issue in favor of your personal interests.

A that's what leads to rationale of rule by minority, to slavery, to dictatorship, a king of England who taxed the colonies without representation.

1) we aren't talking about the presidency, we are talking about illegal immigration.

2) yes, if we let in millions of illegal immigrants every year, there will certainly be areas where there will, at least temporarily, be rule by the minority (until voting rights are granted). This is what we are trying to to prevent by not letting in millions of illegal immigrants every year.

I guess you can go back to school? That comment was weird.

The problem, here it is. They're illegal. They don't have a right to participate in the democratic process. If they don't like the political situation, they can leave. OTOH, the American citizen who doesn't like the political situation, where is he or she to go? Why do we pretend that illegal status is just another way of saying American? It is not. There are millions of immigrants who have respected the law and done things the legal and proper way. They are entitled to vote. Why is this so hard to understand? And please, before you blather about the need to protect these people, try to remember that we have labor laws, legal protections, etc. They have more rights than they do in their home countries.

Liberals have this nasty habit of forgetting that votes and tax dollars are zero sum games. You cannot extend voting rights to a group without diluting the voting rights of those who already have that right. You cannot spend tax dollars to benefit one group without detracting from the economic rights of those not getting the benefit. Liberal politicians are generous with other people's money...and votes...for their own self-serving aims.

Some common sense here...
https://open.substack.com/pub/unglossed/p/a-simple-fix-for-the-border-crisis?r=aiop6&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

"The major flaws of the proposed legislation were:

1. It would arguably have enshrined the current status-quo of rampant, endless asylum fraud (claiming asylum as a means of attaining de facto legal alien status on the spot, due to the inability of the review system to keep up with claims)."

2 .....No migrants would have cancelled their attempts due to the expectation of possible, temporary inconvenience (given that such inconveniences are already routine). This stands into contrast with the Remain in Mexico program, which disincentivized additional departures,

4. Finally, and most astoundingly, it does not appear possible for the "emergency" threshold to ever have been reached due to the weird exclusion of aliens from any country besides Mexico or Canada from the relevant daily counts. The current migrant crisis predominantly involves nationals of other countries besides Mexico

I have asked the bidenistas on this site if point 4 was true on two separate occasions and haven't gotten an answer. It seems odd if it is indeed so.

Not true. And stop blaming other people for your gullibility, poor research, and lack of comprehension.

It doesn't help that we are involved in multiple wars right now and trying to provoke a war with the second most powerful nation in the world (which just happens to be sending military age men across the border.)

Do you believe it would have been an incremental improvement relative to the current disaster?

Thinking that the Republicans will ever get anything more in this current climate is delusional.

So, now, we are in status quo, and purists would rather burn down the entire country for loyalty to one man than recognize that compromise is required when there are Americans with divergent views. And so we kick the can down the road, and purist just spend our money holding press conferences and for theatrics on the floor.

All Democrats are conservatives in denial, so you'll fit in seamlessly. It's really just the old Republican Party minus the abortion issue now.
I guess the only thing this country needs to be more functional is more extreme, my-way-or-the-highway, geniuses.

Did you read the criticisms of this bill? In actual practice, I'm not sure it would accomplish anything. Worse, it would give the many the impression that the border crisis has been solved giving pols cover to more their attention elsewhere.

Again, what are they getting? IMO, what is delusional is the Biden/squad position on the border. How does one compromise with outright insanity? The American people understand this and they are not on board with it. They probably don't understand this bill, but if they did do you think they would be in support of it? I don't.

And so we kick the can down the road, and purist just spend our money holding press conferences and for theatrics on the floor.

This bill is the definition of theater and can kicking.

We should pass it and, if it truly is ineffective, work on more effective legislation. I don't like it, but it is way better than what we have going now, which I believe is a result of democrat welfare policies catered toward illegal immigrants.

I look forward to the much better bill that the Republicans will pass that will survive both houses and not be subject to veto. Great job. I guess this immigration mess is OK for a bit longer, right? Not an urgent issue but instead something that can be fully addressed in this political climate because the republicans, with their great demonstration of governance will win a filibuster proof majority in the senate, majority in the house and the White House. What a ****ing joke the republicans are. This is why the republicans cannot pass a single meaningful bill. All they care about is licking Trump's boots..

The Spectator: Gavin Mortimer
Russia isn't the biggest worry in Macron's crime-ridden France
5 February 2024, 10:19am

"...On Saturday, a man stabbed three people at the Gare de Lyon in Paris. The suspect in custody is from Mali but had lived legally in Italy since arriving in 2016. During questioning, the 32-year said his actions were motivated not by religion but by historical grievance, for what France 'had imposed on his grandfather'. As has become the custom in these type of attacks, the initial explanation for the man's rampage was attributed to 'psychiatric problems'. That was also the excuse for the man who, in December, was accused of stabbing to death a German tourist in Paris.

"The French right isn't particularly interested in the motivations of the assailants; what concerns them is whether or not they should have been in France.

'We won't solve the problem of worsening insecurity in terms of numbers and nature if we don't solve the problem of massive and uncontrolled immigration,' tweeted Marine Le Pen in the aftermath of Saturday's attack. There were similar reactions from Eric Zemmour and Francois-Xavier Bellamy, the Republican candidate in the upcoming European elections. 'The most appalling thing about the attack…is that it was not an isolated incident,' he remarked

"The statistics bear out Bellamy. Murder, attempted murder and common assault have all risen dramatically since Emmanuel Macron came to power. There were 361,000 assaults in 2023, an increase of 63 per cent since he was elected president in 2017.

"Last year also saw a record number of burglaries and car theft, the majority committed by 15 to 24-year-olds. Thirty-eight per cent of burglars were foreigners, a figure that rose to 40 per cent for car crime...."

Those are excuses. We can enforce the laws on the books.

Further, when Congress chose inaction, President Trump worked with the President of Mexico and all central and South American countries, to close the border. Call it leverage or negotiation, he got it done.

Progressives and WEF Wall Street want an open border. Citizens don't.
