And so John Dean is right: Biden should go further by issuing blanket pardons for the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, Jack Smith, Nancy Pelosi, and so on.
If I was any of the people on that list, I would rather have the potential for a state court malicious prosecution action against the federal government in my pocket than a pardon for a garden variety MAGA fantasy based criminal prosecution. Remember, Trump's factually unsupportable proclamations of this guy or that guy is going to jail are made solely for the purpose of lathering up his extremely ignorant base.

1. Jack Smith has prosecutorial immunity regardless of how egregious MAGA fantasizes his misconduct;
2. Trump is trying very hard to suppress Jack Smith's reports. If Trump were to have his Justice Dept. prosecute members of the January 6 Committee, all of Trump's criminal misconduct would be fair game in the fashioning of the defense and would be aired publicly. Trump has shown he doesn't want that; and
3. The differential in the quality of the lawyering between the prosecution and the defense would be significant. Only corrupt, dense "yes" men will be appointed prosecutors in Trump's Justice Department and they will have little to no meaningful trial experience. Conversely, the most qualified attorneys in America will be furiously pushing each other aside, like Trump does to world leaders at a Summit, to shove Trump's false prosecutions up his very substantial rectum.
