Not much of a kick. More like a shove.

But if he did have a habit of kicking his dog, maybe that encouraged the dog to bite people. I believe it was 11 or 12 times, the dog bit someone at the White House.

If Poso is right, we won't have enough money to fund Hilly's Deprogramming Program. It will cost a lot to deprogram 75 million Trumpsters. First they will probably need to offer them some incentive, like money, for them to surrender for deprogramming. For those who resist, the government will have to seek them out, arrest them, try them, jail them, and then hire deprogrammers to do the high tech lobotomy. They will need a lot of audio and other electronic equipment. This whole thing will cost many billions, I'd guess. They could jump-start the program by beginning with the BI off-topics forum where there are maybe a half dozen who need deprogramming. Except they all may be Cal graduates, who we know are highly intelligent. These felons won't come cheap, or come quietly, I'd wager.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday informed Congress he had signed a waiver releasing $6 billion in frozen Iranian oil revenues as part of a deal to bring home five Americans imprisoned in Iran. In return, the U.S. will release five Iranians held here. It's a hard deal to accept, all the more so when the Biden Administration chose the anniversary of 9/11 to announce it.

Kind of like how the economy is strongest when demand at food banks is up 600%?

GDP is expected at 2.2%
Inflation is way down from peaks and inflation ex shelter is 1.9%. Shelter is lagged as it takes time for leases to catch up with spot rates.
Jobs are booming and unemployment is 3.8%.
Real wages are keeping up with inflation and jobs at the low end are ahead of inflation from pre-pandemic levels.

These are the data driven facts. Your side will continue to push a negative narrative regardless. It's what you do. But you aren't up against me - you are up against the data.

Inflation is down temporarily. Shelter is down because of 7% mortgages; that isn't sustainable. Wage inflation is a real problem. Unions and economically illiterate pols are demanding 30, 40, even 50% increases (see fast food workers in Blue cities, UPS drivers, UAW etc).
The economy is still growing for a a couple reasons. First, there is still pandemic money being spent but that is drying up. Second, the deficit is running at 7.5% of GDP, a ridiculous figure for a economy not at war or in recession. Biden's green subsidies are stimulating lots of uneconomic investment in "green" energy. Biden cancelling (a euphemism, or course, all he's done is transferred the debt to the American taxpayer.) $127 billion of student debt is also hugely stimulative and not just because of the amount. Millions of Americans have been conditioned during Covid to not have to pay their student debt and Biden rhetoric has them thinking it will be cancelled in the end; they are spending that debt service. Oil prices are down from the war's beginning but Biden had to cut the SPR to levels not seen since the 80s to achieve it. And now the Saudis and Russians are collaborating to increase prices. There are many reasons to think that inflation is headed higher.

But this is a sugar high. All signs point to a recession. The deficit will climb well into double digits and the Fed will be forced to cut interest rates as they have always done to save the economy and the banks. But there is too much debt to finance and they will be forced into yield curve control as the Japanese are now doing. There will be periods of deflation as productive capacity is destroyed, followed by periods of rapid inflation from gargantuan fiscal and monetary stimulus. Sadly, Biden won't be around to take "credit" his part in this economic catastrophe.

Inflation is down temporarily. Shelter is down because of 7% mortgages; that isn't sustainable. Wage inflation is a real problem.

There is a lot of gobbledygook in what you wrote which is a good approach for you, since when you get into specifics you expose yourself as not knowing what you are talking about.

First, shelter is not down. Shelter is lagged to spot rates and is still at 7.2% in August. CPI ex Shelter was at 1.9%. The Zillow Observed Rent Index (the spot rate) is at 3.3% so Shelter CPI will continue to come down as leases (reflected in Shelter CPI) catch up to spot rates.

Second, mortgages rates have marginal impacts on Shelter CPI. Shelter CPI is calculated from rent and Owner's Equivalent Rent (OER) which is a guess at rent for homeowners. For homeowners staying put (most homeowners), Shelter costs haven't changed at all and their Shelter inflation is zero, even though it is reported at 7%+. Therefore, Shelter CPI is a vast overstatement to what is happening in the real world.

Third, now you are complaining about wage growth when you spent all of 2022 complaining that wages weren't keeping up with inflation. A big problem in 2022 was greedflation, in which companies drove up inflation to maximize profits. You all denied it existed. Now that wages are ahead of inflation (which is a good thing), you are complaining that wages are high. I know it's a hard time for you all. You wanted inflation to destroy the Biden Presidency. He has seen us through the Trump/Biden Covid stimulus inflation. The economy is strong. The corporate news will never admit that about a democratic Presidency and neither will you.

Which also proves that money is indeed fungible. If the U.S. really controlled that the money was for humanitarian purposes only, why would it need to be kept from being released? Are people no longer suffering because of the war?

Thanks for your honesty and candor. It didn't help clarify the words, but with your permission, I will keep this post, frame it, and try to refer to it whenever I am tempted to reply to a post by someone with whom I often disagree.

PS: Are you in Eastern Oregon? In John Day, there used to be a drinking establishment called "The House of the Bullshippers". I never went in there, but I think if I had, it might have been filled with Oregon or Oregon State sports fans arguing about how to solve their team's and the world's problems.
I think you asked me this a year or two back. I am in eastern Oregon. John Day is about a 2.5 hour drive south of me and it's on a twisting, winding road through the mountains, so I don't get down there too often. It's a nice area and pretty, but usually I'm just passing through on my way to somewhere else. I'm not familiar with Bullshippers and I don't see any mention of it when I google for it, so I think it's not there anymore. Due to my health issues, I'm not much of a drinker, so I don't check out bars very often.

As for football fans around here, I'd say there are more Beaver fans than Oregon fans, maybe 50% to 40% with the rest being WSU or Boise State fans.

Fox News: Republicans blast Biden for releasing $6 billion in frozen Iran funds ahead of Hamas attack on Israel
At least 100 people have been killed in the assault.

If Poso is right

We can all stop right there

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday informed Congress he had signed a waiver releasing $6 billion in frozen Iranian oil revenues as part of a deal to bring home five Americans imprisoned in Iran. In return, the U.S. will release five Iranians held here. It's a hard deal to accept, all the more so when the Biden Administration chose the anniversary of 9/11 to announce it.

The funds were moved to a Qatar Bank from which Iran can request payment be made directly to approved humanitarian vendors.
Lies are what BearHunter does. It's how he radicalized post Bernie Sanders. Expect nothing else from him.
I mean no offense, but I can't comprehend your post. What did Bearhunter lie about here? He just quoted Wall Street Journal article. If it is a lie, then isn't it the WSJ who is lying? And the second sentence, do you mean Bearhunter radicalized himself after Bernie Sanders did it himself, or Bearhunter radicalized Bernie. I'm just confused here, so please explain. Thanks.

Rode through John Day at the beginning of a couple of bicycle trips in the 80s and 90s. Don't remember the bar. Maybe that's because I was dehydrated and it served really cheap drinks.

Now I do remember asking you. I must have had a brain cramp. Sorry. Oregon is a beautiful state. And it is pretty nice around John Day. The friend of mine who told me about the bar, had married a gal whose father had been the City Engineer for John Day, when the job payed little. In fact, the city owed him so much back pay, that they offered to see him a square mile of forest land, with the middle fork of the John Day River running right through the center of it for $1. He paid the $1, and carved out a section for a nice home, a bunkhouse with 4 or 5 rooms for guests, and a dining structure with a kitchen next to the river, where the family could gather for meals and spend the day close to the river during rainy or sunny days. The top of the property was a lake where local children would sneak in and swim or fish. Eventually, Pat's wife got worried about the liability she might have if a kid should get injured or drown in the lake, so she gave the lake to the City to use it for a Park. They began to sell off some timber every few years, and lived off the proceeds until they passed away. Her children live in the Bay Area, and their kids and her grandchildren use the property every year for summer vacations.

When I was a assistant high school coach, I use to drive my car separately to many locations because of work and I'd take another assistant with me. We had to go to Grant Union high school in John Day during the playoffs one year and it is the scariest drive I've ever done. So during the twilight is when the deer come out to feed on the farm land which made driving out there very scary, I missed multiple deer many time who just sit at the edge of the road feeding and bolt across when a car comes and being twilight made them hard to see very often. Then you had to deal with the rabbits that are all over the place and I hit one or 2, impossible to miss because there's just so many and they bolt so fast. But you can easily get killed driving out there..I was a nervous wreck coming back home after we had won lol. They were a decent team the year we played them and it was a close game, we ended up finishing in the state semi's that year I think (can't remember tbh lol). Think it was my 2nd year coaching so It was either semi's or quarters. Their team was quite cocky though and I remember they had a tough time dealing with our triple option so we just kept running it lol. (Normally we were a west coast offense so did more ISO/Power/Counter type running plays with playaction) But we did have some options. (kinda went off topic there lol). It is a beautiful area though and if anyone goes, just don't drive out there at night or twilight, that suggestion goes for much of eastern oregon tbh.

Any chance you drove Hwy 26? That's the rode I biked three separate times across Oregon. Eugene to Brownlee was actually some of the nicest (and fairly hard) riding I did on the bike trips.
