I offer my perspective as a former conceal carry permit holder. I was taught - and suspect this is taught in every single CC class across the country - that you show your hands to LEO and calmly say something like "I am a conceal carry permit holder and I have a firearm on me." I have done a version of this myself. Interacting with LEO was always a very scary time for me while a permit holder; it is inherently dangerous and a risky point in time for a permit holder.

It is incredibly reckless and dangerous to be around LEO without doing that because you are creating a risk of getting yourself shot. The fact he was carrying and chose to interfere, obstruct and resist LEO is literally inconceivable to me. It's like getting drunk and repeatedly running across a busy freeway at night with dark clothes on.

Well said. What he did is just something you don't do with a conceal carry permit. I know nobody who carries a gun that would handle this situation the way he did. I am sorry he is dead, that really sucks that he either didn't have the training or didn't have the wherewithal to keep his cool.

What is the opinion of this panel of two with regard to administering 10 9mms into the back of a person after they have been disarmed and are subdued face down on the asphalt? Asking for a friend.

There are 266 million adults (18+) in the U.S. How many of those people do you think buy what the Trump Administration is selling with regard to ICE use of force misconduct in Minnesota and with regard to the claim that the decedent was a domestic terrorist attempting to assassinate ICE officers?

Trump is a throwback guy that preferred the environment of the good old days: You know, the Summer of 1967 when The Guard and local police gunned down Black rioters in major U.S. cities; the Oakland Induction Center Protest of 1967 when OPD and the Alameda County Sheriffs Dept. broke bones and fractured skulls on horseback with Billy clubs and horses kicking bodies; the Alameda County Sheriff using buckshot at Cal in 1969 and killing Jamie Rector on a rooftop on Telegraph in 1969; and the Guard killing four students at Kent State in 1970.

Jamie Rector, 1969

Kent State, 1970

The July 28, 1967, Life magazine cover featured a haunting image of 12-year-old Joe Bass Jr., who was shot and wounded by stray pellets during the Newark riots.

What does racism have to do with White officers panicking and killing a White man? Name of ruling of SCOTUS that makes this unlawful use of force killing legal?

The liberal strategy on this, I guess, is since not enough people care about brown people being arrested and abused for being brown people, let's get as many dumbass white liberals to start physical confrontations with ICE agents that will always end in ICE 7, Confrontational Liberal 0. And that's not to say that the ICE agent is always right or is ever right even once in the situation for shooting the other person, but that the angry white liberal is never ever ever going to come out the winner in that situation.

If you think that's a cause worth throwing your life away for, by all means let's thin the herd of these dumbass white liberals who think they can confront armed feds and come out the winner. Less future idiots who will vote for vapid idiots like Gavin Newsom, Jasmine Crockett, Kamala Harris, et al.

Better smarter strategy is to protest non-violently with your voice and your words and your signs, and your stupid chants and stop threatening armed feds who are looking for any excuse to shoot you.

If someone is obstructing, threatening or interfering arrest them. Letting the courts handle it is better than pushing people to the ground. If they are not obstructing, threatening or interfering then keep your hands to yourself.

Since Yogi has declined to do so, I will guess at what I think his point is supposed to be:

He thinks that his repeated suggestions and insinuations that the Democratic Party is weak and feckless and allowed this to happen are news to me. Guess what? They're not. I know the Dem leaders have been weak as f*** on this stuff. I don't think that is a more pressing concern than what the Trump government is doing right now, but I know. So this "satire" doesn't need to be presented to me like it's some big revelation, thanks.

Imagine finding yourself waking up in the morning and carrying a gun with you to a heated protest against federal law enforcement and thinking things will turn out well in the end.

Imagine a person not drawing that gun, being subdued, having that gun taken from them, remaining subdued and then getting shot god knows how many times while being restrained.

Oh wait, you don't have to imagine that. That's what happened today. It doesn't matter how stupid he was to bring that gun. I repeat: it does not matter. Properly trained people suitable for law enforcement don't shoot that man.

If you can't speak out against this or feel the need to defend or deflect, you're an absolute piece of steaming garbage to most people, even ones that you're politically aligned with.

Today is a huge turning point.

It does matter. Because if this idiot had followed his parents' advice and not confronted the ICE agent, he'd be alive right now.

You can oppose everything that ICE is doing. I oppose what they're doing. I don't like their tactics, I think their agents are poorly trained, if at all. This whole operation doesn't really even have anything to do with illegal immigration ultimately in my view. It's wanting to provoke confrontations exactly like what we got today. Recruit a bunch of angry people that don't like immigrants and are desperate for good paying jobs, send them into liberal enclaves, and create violent confrontations. It's violent political gamesmanship.

What both sides fail to understand, as they always do, is you're being whipped up into a frenzy by politicians who don't give a damn about you or that you're throwing your life away so that you they can do better in the midterms. The people who protest and the people in ICE are the puppets and they pay the price and the politicians sit safely away and make speeches.

Oppose ICE all you want. But do it in a way that puts your safety at a premium because blowing whistles and rushing up to film feds with guns with your cellphone so you can be a viral star is poking a bear that is all too happy to maul you.

No. I wanted to know your stance. And it pisses me off that Democrats who have been all too happy to take an Abolish ICE stance when there was no potential cost are backing off on that when that stance matters more now than ever.
