Eyewitness accounts from the Portland Press Herald (pressherald.com) aren't very supportive of the justified shooting claim but don't completely rule it out. It certainly appears that ICE took no actions to prevent the driver's death once they had shot him.
Em said agents appeared to crash a vehicle into the smaller car to get it to stop, then the driver (already shot - my added comment for clarification) was pulled out.
"No one went to him and no one did anything," she said, her voice choking with tears.
After Biddeford police and an ambulance arrived, Boucher said he saw someone appear to start CPR on the driver.
So, they let him bleed out for the 5-10 minutes or whatever that it took for local agencies to arrive.
Another witness said the driver's last words were "I tried to stop."
Of course, what actually happened may never be known for sure because the ICE agents were conveniently not wearing body cameras.
🚨 Eyewitness says the driver was told multiple times to stop by ICE agents. He then put the car in drive and DROVE AT THE ICE OFFICER.

OK, in light of the first tweet, I'll withdraw the first sentence of my post. I still think it's shameful that they apparently were content to withhold CPR or other measures until local agencies arrived. Also, it's ridiculous that ICE isn't wearing body cameras. It's like they know it could prove incriminating so they'll just avoid having footage of incidents.BearlySane88 said:Eastern Oregon Bear said:

I'm not sure what the second tweet proves. It was taken while local police and paramedics were working, so it was taken well after the shooting and doesn't provide any evidence about how the shooting went down.

LOL, probably accurate.
I chatted with an old timer policeman from Alameda and he told me back in the day when there was an accident on the Alameda side of the Webster tunnel that they would drag the accident to the Oakland side when feasible so they didn't have to do the paperwork

I saw a commercial bus sideswipe a car on the road once and keep going. I called 911 from my cell and followed the bus until it was pulled over. Then I felt like a jerk because everybody had to get off the bus and wait for a new bus. The officer said to me, "thanks for the paperwork".
I took solace that some of the riders told police they saw the accident and the victims of the hit and run had also phoned it in.

Yeah that is probably a misinformed take as the current Senator does not subscribe to those facts at all:
"King, who's calling for an investigation, said the agents were NOT wearing body cameras. The FBI is leading the investigation, he added.
"The FBI has responded to assist on-scene immediately following this morning's shooting incident in Biddeford, Maine. We have no additional comment at this time," the agency said.
"What did he do with his vehicle? Were officers threatened? Were the threats rising to the level that justified deadly force?" King said.
King also stated he was concerned that officers involved in the incident were not wearing body cameras.
"We've been told that body cameras would be widely distributed," he said. "The secretary told me that they're on order, that they have been distributed widely across the country, but not everywhere."
No body cameras, ICE is awful.
Spreading misinformation is bad.

The senator doesn't seem to subscribe to any facts, he's asking questions as one should in this situation. I agree there should have been body cams.
The eye witness that was interviewed reported what he saw. I agree, don't post misinformation.

Your prior post didn't do that, you wrote " Driving your car at an LEO, as is said to have happened in this case, is grounds for you to be shot".
Angus King, a standing Senator with infinitely more info on the subject than you, doesn't assume that happened, why would you?
It seems, from all reporting, that ICE today
— Sam Stein (@samstein) July 14, 2026
- shot someone who was not attempting to run them over but, rather, "flee the scene"

- who had a 3yr old in the car

- all while not wearing body cams
