It's a big game. The UniParty and Wall Street want an unlimited supply of cheap labor, and Democrats want to rig elections for decades (including Amnesty).

Democrats abandoned the middle class and blue collar Americans for POC and unlimited illegal immigration, rigged voter roles, elections, etc.

We allow over one million legal residents entry per year, plus various visas, H1B visas, student viseas, etc.

The UniParty and MSM also lie about the true illegal immigrant count which is easily somewhere between 35 and 50 million. (Ivy League academic research estimate + Autopen importing 10-21 million more.)

If you tell Americans we have, say, 45 million illegal immigrants, 300,000 missing children, the average uneducated illiterate illegal immigrant costing us $800K to $1 million per treaspasser, etc., they likely would demand serious policies and actions. They don't want that. They want short term fixes, corporate American wants its next quarter to look good.

Just like Ukraine. They won't tell us there are 1.2 to 1.3 million dead Ukrainians, 200K plus amputees, no hope of winning, etc. They want $$$ and control and MIC games.

And why are we spending $1 Trillion per year on military, 400 - 700 military bases around the world?

Insanity.
Sycasey's post is precisely the kind of common sense approach people from both sides should be able to agree on. We are a nation of immigrants. We should promote legal immigration. We should halt the nonsense we've seen lately from D's and globalist R's of gaming the system to benefit their fat cat donors who want the cheap labor for even higher profits.

I think if you pressed movielover and bear2034 for their real opinions on this issue, you'll find that they just don't want immigration at all. Especially if the immigrants are not white and not Christian. But maybe they'll surprise me with an actual coherent argument to the contrary one of these days.

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions enter the country legally each year and are granted green card status with most of the immigrants coming from Mexico, India, China, Philippines, central and south America. Hardly white, and who knows if they're Christian or not? You first have to make a coherent argument as to why you think we're anti-immigration before expecting a counter argument.

So you agree with me that a more streamlined, faster legal process would be good?

For example, I don't think we should be arresting people who show up for their legal hearings like they're supposed to.

I looked this up based on the photo which showed San Antonio ICE, etc.

Some of the people are getting their hearing, the judge is rejecting their case and they are being detained/removed. This is appropriate.

Other people are being detained and removed before the hearing. It appears these are people who no longer have TPS protections. SCOTUS recently ruled favorably for the administration on TPS, so even those detentions/removals are legal.

A fair system that enables legal immigration is one where an administration doesn't game the TPS system to let magnitudes more people in, effectively permanently. If that happens then you don't need a subsequent administration to be very aggressive in removing them.

Specifics please.

We already have one of the most generous legal immigration systems in the world with an open lottery, student, tourist, and hi tech visas... and all appear to be flagrantly abused by people who want to break our laws and milk our system. We allow in legally well over a million people plus all of these visas.

There was never a problem with existing TPS laws until Biden. It became a problem when they used it as a tool to manipulate to achieve their open border policy. Other than Biden people administered the program in a reasonable way.

Every time I've seen it on tv they say they are going after criminals first or they are starting with criminals. That means its no surprise that regular illegal aliens are next.

In the past week we've seen reports of raids that have captured people working assorted construction jobs. Those are not fruit picking or house cleaning jobs that Americans won't do. These are just give aways to people that should not be here. Get them out of the country.

Agreed. The priority is violent felons, and there are also others who have been deported multiple times with lower level crimes that are playing immigration games. They're being deported as well. We have 35 - 50 million here. A side benefit is housing should become more available (less Demand), and prices could stabilize.

Careers like construction are difficult because it's been under attack for four decades or more, and Americans rightly saw their career path as tenuous - unless they were self employed - say an electrician, plumber, or GC. Many were pushed out.

A neighbor in SoCal was a roofer (African American), home owner, raised four law abiding daughters. Pillar of the community. In the 1980s he was working a new housing tract in Orange County, and three trucks full of Mexicans pulled up on a Tuesday. The lead guy asked for the Superintendent, and offered to roof the tract for HALF the price of the American unionized crew. He took the deal, and told the Americans they could go home - and they would be paid through Friday. The Americans refused the 'handout' - they worked through Friday and were then laid off.

Unclear either way. The point is that due process is sorely lacking here. Defenses of ICE tactics seem to rest on the idea that the government never makes a mistake in determining who to arrest, who has legal status and who does not, but they very clearly do. Hence why there needs to be a more orderly process.

It is not clear that due process was violated here. We are lacking facts. It is entirely possible ICE initiated lawful contact with the wrong person and subsequently determined that person was also subject to detention/deportation. And it is possible the wrong person was improperly detained. The latest reporting I have seen says this person is at a detention center. That is consistent with both scenarios (ie being held while the clock ticks on his Due Process notification window or sitting in a cell improperly). But the mere fact that this person is detained does not mean civil rights were necessarily violated.
