I hope the GOP folks keep up the "DEI hire" crap. The people that were going to vote for Trump anyway still will. And... and... that's it! Everyone else thinks it's negative and offensive. Sure, DEI can go a little too far sometimes, but people know when the letters are being used as code for the n-word and the b-word.

I would like to hear some policy ideas from Mr. Trump, the guy that put the kibosh on the border bill in Congress. The bill that was fairly Draconian but the Dems kind of got forced into accepting. (Normally, that would be a huge win for the GOP... but not TrumpGOP.) That issue was kind of all he had and he nixed a fix for it for personal, political reasons.

I just don't think the average voter is going to buy the idea that someone who was a US Senator and Vice President is unqualified as a Presidential nominee. They're especially not going to buy it in a matchup against Donald Trump, who had basically no qualifications when he was elected with a minority of the vote.

Argue that Harris' record in her previous positions is unimpressive, fine. But I don't think the DEI thing is going to fly.

The Democrat birder bill was designed to fail. President Trump could simply re-install his successful policies and procedures from 4 years ago, add a few tweaks, and resume adding the previously planned Wall sections.

DEI is short for affirmative action / unqualified. Like the USSS Director who is either completely incompetent, or in on the assassination attempt.

Because Harris had so much success as the Border Czar. Historic failure, just as she was a disaster in San Francisco. Social and career climber without skills.

Anyway, the truth about immigration is that whatever the President does is just slapping a band-aid on the situation. The only way to really solve the problem is for Congress to pass reform legislation. This has been the case for decades. Republicans always spike the bill at the last second, because they want it as a campaign issue.

The problem with what you're saying is that you too, have been the beneficiary of white privilege. So have you returned all the things you and your family have stolen over the years?

Sorry, wrong guy. All four of my grandparents immigrated from Ireland at the turn of the 20th Century because the British jackboot kept their faces ground to the cobblestone. They were treated like sh@it by your type when they arrived in America. No one gave them anything and they took from no one. No one gave my parents anything and they took from no one. I never benefitted from the Good Old Boy System. I earned what I have and took from no one…..but because it is an inherent advantage being born White in this country, I never had a problem with Affirmative Action but I have major problems with the Good Ole Boy System because most of he beneficiaries have soft hands and faces and are POS, like tRump and his spawn, and they are always vehemently anti Affirmative Action and generally worthless and lack empathy.

Patently and utterly false. President Trump had the border sealed via dozens of policies and procedures including Remain in Mexico and Trump getting AMLO to put 20,000 Mexican troops on the border.

Newsom and Biden invited them in; Biden went so far as to pay for illegal immigrants to be flown into our country! They then give them $2200 a month (more than many seniors receive); free health care (supplanting Veterans); free hotels in New York and elsewhere (on top of the $2200); and more.

If there's one thing Biden's presidency will be known for besides election interference against his political opponent, it will be how he allowed our country to be invaded through our southern border.

You are absolutely correct.

Where I will hold Biden responsible is the stupid false hope indicating that the border is open when he was running in 2020. That provided false hope and led to mass migration.

However, Congress, including the Republicans, have failed to take any action or do anything resembling their job. All they do is campaign and point fingers. Why do the MAGa representatives believe that they get paid money from our tax revenues to campaign for the next election and hold stupid TV conferences? Submit impeachment charges that will never pass? People like MTG and Boebert are the ultimate welfare queens.

Because in a republic, you won't get everything you want. Perfection in everyone's eyes is not on the table. True leaders see the problem, identify what is possible and keep moving the ball forward.

MAGA republicans have never done that.

So screw the MAGA welfare queens like MGT and Boebert (who demonstrated why it is important to graduate from high school when she just utterly embarrassed herself on complete misunderstanding of the Loper case and what Chevron deference was), sexual predators or molestation enablers like Gaetz and Jordan who preach on morals, etc.

I have not been kind to Biden on this board. But one of the most amazing thing about America is the respect for the country and our ability to engage in peaceful transfer of power. Biden after resisting finally gave in to his better angels to put country over ambition. Yea, he was pressured. So was Trump. But Trump would rather burn down the country, have the VP overrule elections than give up power peacefully.

So, despite my lack of inspiration by Harris, I will vote for her. Because MAGA is inspirational. They inspire a former conservative like me to vote for anything not MAGA. We need two sane and grown up parties, and right now, MAGA is more of a stupid infant. And we need to take back the Republican Party from those like Trump, Gaetz, MTG, Jordan and Boebert and give it back to the adults who actually govern.

Then we can go after progressives and their stupid, unethical DAs like those who campaign on using the judiciary for political persecution while letting violent criminals walk free and abuse their power.

I assume you recognize that presidents are not masters of the universes. It's like blaming Trump for the worst pandemic since the black plague.

How did the presidents handle the issues that were presented to them? What would Trump have done when Hamas committed terrorism and Israel invaded Gaza?

Was Trump weak on immigration since Obama deported more?

President Trump had to battle a weaponized system and had to use creative means to close the border and fund Wall construction as both sides of the UniParty tried to block his efforts.

Illegal immigration EXPLODED when Biden Harris took office, as they removed dozens of policies, procedures, and mechanisms used to secure the border.

The travesty includes the China and partner drug cartels flooding our nation with dangerous drugs, leading to over 100,000 deaths per year, and 80,000 missing women and children.

Agree with you on Biden's immigration misstep. But that was mainly his pandering to the progressives by implying g the borders were open. That was heard by desperate people in Central America who just needed some hope to migrate. Not so much policies (which did not change) and no shown correlation between wall with inevitably large gaps and reduction. At a certain point, we need to be data driven instead of saying build a wall and inject bleach based on gut feeling.

How about Trump being president during the opioid crisis or during isis? World events happen. President deal with them. That doesn't mean they caused it.

That's because Washington didn't yet have access to China buying our debt.

Just wait until China decides to stop doing that. Bye bye US hegemony. Hello China is our daddy.

But, until that time, it'll be a continuation of the ongoing trade: US gives current consumption to China in exchange for future wealth accumulation - with compounding interest!

Your info is about that old. China's slowing economy is very debt burdened and more closely resembling Japan than America

Hmmm
Well, I decided to ask ChatGPT a couple questions.
What say you to this:

What is the level of trade in balance between United States and China?

As of May 2024, the trade balance between the United States and China shows a significant deficit for the U.S. In that month, China exported goods worth $44 billion to the United States while importing $13.2 billion from the United States, resulting in a trade deficit of $30.8 billion for the U.S.

What is the total amount of US sovereign debt owned by China?

As of now, China owns about $859.4 billion in U.S. Treasury securities. This makes China the second-largest foreign holder of U.S. debt, following Japan, which holds approximately $1.1 trillion

Follow up: Regarding this last figure, how much in interest payments flowed from the US federal government to Chinese owners of US federal debt?

To estimate the interest payments flowing from the U.S. federal government to Chinese holders of U.S. federal debt, we need to consider the amount of debt held by China and the average interest rate on that debt.

1. **Amount of Debt Held by China**: $859.4 billion.
2. **Average Interest Rate**: The average interest rate on U.S. Treasury securities varies, but a rough estimate for recent years has been around 2% to 3%.

Using an average rate of 2.5% for simplicity:

\[ \text{Interest Payments} = \text{Amount of Debt} \times \text{Average Interest Rate} \]
\[ \text{Interest Payments} = \$859.4 \text{ billion} \times 0.025 \]
\[ \text{Interest Payments} = \$21.485 \text{ billion} \]

Thus, approximately $21.485 billion in interest payments would flow annually from the U.S. federal government to Chinese holders of U.S. federal debt at an average interest rate of 2.5%.

This is a rough estimate, as the actual interest rates can vary depending on the specific maturities and yields of the Treasury securities held by China.

It seems to me that question #1 shows the transfer of current period consumption flowing from China to the US and question #2 shows the future period consumption flowing from the US to China.

I don't think your statement refutes that.

I have bolded two figures above to measure the extent of it. Interesting when compared to other adventures in federal expenditures we might consider. Like, military aid to Ukraine or Israel or…. It could be an endless exercise.
