I think Roy Cohn made tRump aware of the fact J. Edgar Hoover made himself invincible by keeping a dossier full of blackmail on virtually anyone that could threaten his job security. That being the case, I can assure you that any of the former Cabinet members (some of whom have been declared great patriots) who were in a position to sign affidavits supporting tRump's removal under the 25th Amendment and current legislators that are his advocates, are the subject matter of dossiers full of 8 x 10 glossies depicting balls in mouth or yodeling in the valley.

The Idiot in Chief has admitted to the abuse of power by holding foreign aid to the Ukraine hostage in return for an investigation of his domestic political rival, Joe Biden and his son. Only after the investigation would the Idiot in Chief release the foreign military aid that the Ukraine desperately needed. He doubled down of this plan by suggesting that China should open investigation of the Bidens. I seem to remember this play in the 2016 elections. Not only did the Idiot in Chief implicate himself, he implicated Gollum and the seven dwarfs, Pence, Pompeo, Mulvaney, Mnuchin, Volker, and Barr. Volker has confirmed what we all thought, that there was an attempt to cover up the abuse of power related to the Presidency for personal gain.

So it looks like the old Republican defense of "no quid pro quo" has fallen apart and that the alleged QPQ is going to be fairly easily establishes given how frequently and stridently the issue was raised with Ukraine (and possibly gyna lol).

If they remain as a forever loyalist, they will lose credibility just like all of Trump GOP apologist politicians.

The catch: The wall gets weaker if you factor in Trump's approval ratings. They're negative in some of the states he won in 2016.

That would only change if he started to lose senators from states where he's still popular, too.
By the numbers:
36 Republican senators represent Trump states where he's still popular. 15 of them are up for re-election.
15 Republican senators represent Trump states where his approval ratings are underwater, but only 4 of them are up for re-election.
Trump could lose 17 senators from his red wall or 19 Republicans if Collins and Gardner were in the mix and still stay in office.
The bottom line: Trump believes the combination of right-wing media backing, plus GOP senators' fear of crossing Trump voters will save him.

I've had those conversations at work but obviously not about international diplomacy and breaking the law but it was a federally funded project with monitors. When I got a email I thought best not to reply to or create a record, as to keep my nose clean...I'd get on the phone right away and ask what they needed. Heck even some of the monitors said to call first. If this is known at a bottom feeder level...just amazing those guys didn't or didn't have enough common sense. The following convinces me more than anything I have read recently that a nation gets the government it deserves. The only satisfaction in it for me is that the non wealthy supporters of tRump will ultimately get their faces ground into the cobblestones by the jackboot of his economic policies. They will avoid their own accountability by believing his impeachment caused everything to go sideways. I don't care what they believe only that they get ravaged by the huckster they put in the Oval.
