As for Lamar Alexander - on the one hand I give him credit for acknowledging wrongdoing but I am disappointed he isn't voting to convict. I think McConnell should have made a deal to get to like 65 votes to convict. That would send a strong message to Trump that what he did was wrong and actually serve as deterrence. What they've done instead is make a narcissist feel even more invincible. I'm sure that will end well.

This impeachment process was in part intended to embarass Trump. Do you think Trump would be embarassed if he were found in bed with a dead transsexual? I don't. He seems incapable of being embarassed. If Reagan was the Teflon President, Trump is protected by something exponentially stronger.

It was also intended to put Senate Republicans in a difficult position.
The Senate exists to thwart the will of the American people. The Senate is a disgrace.

The only solace to the failure of Republicans to prevent Trump from ruining their party the way he ruins everything he touches is the fact that he is also creating a ton of anguish amongst the Republican cowards and that they feel even more feckless and hopeless than usual.
I would still rather they do their jobs but it's not up to me and at least they are suffering along with the country they pretend to care about.

I have tried to find a single message board tied to a major University which is as worked up about today's politics as ours. I have not checked a lot of schools, but I am not finding any board as unhappy, angry or indignant as ours is. Is our board more engaged or enlightened? Or the most out of touch with the rest of the country?
