According to New York (the magazine), it's just a matter of time before he announces officially.

Quote:

Donald Trump was impeached twice, lost the 2020 election by 7,052,770 votes, is entangled in investigations by federal prosecutors (over the Capitol insurrection and over the mishandling of classified White House documents and over election interference) and the District of Columbia attorney general (over financial fraud at the Presidential Inaugural Committee) and the Manhattan district attorney (over financial fraud at the Trump Organization) and the New York State attorney general (over financial fraud at the Trump Organization) and the Westchester County district attorney (over financial fraud at the Trump Organization) and the Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney (over criminal election interference in Georgia) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (over rules violations in plans to take his social-media company public through a SPAC) and the House Select Committee on January 6 (whose hearings are the runaway TV-ratings hit of the summer), yet on Monday, July 11, he was in a fantastic mood.

This is terrible news for all the remaining sane conservatives who like to pretend the GOP is salvageable. Once he officially launches his bid, we will see what the small number of GOP politicians who have tilted away from Trump come running back. Assume the shenanigans will only increase this third time around. On the bright side, he'll probably lose again. Let's hope we can trust GOP state officials not to provoke a constitutional crisis.

Between rigging the Election and the Supreme Court resolving any controversy, I think it is a lock for him.

The great thing about Trump is he's great at making his enemies look like a piece of sh*t.*

He did that with Elon this week, but nobody cared.

But as a presidential candidate, all eyes will be on him as he tears down DeSantis for the phoney he is. And if DeSantis wins, Trump -- whether he concedes or not -- will not back down from tearing down DeSantis.

(*The reason why Biden was nominated was because he was seen as the best person to overcome Trump turning enemies into pieces of sh*t. And that's why he was elected. And he may be re-elected again.)

I'd actually think it better for D's. Trump is a scoundrel and should lose by double in a rematch.

Trump HAS to run so he can attempt to claim some protection from all the court cases.

What does he have to lose?
He's a rat being rooted out.

When the Democrats lose the House and Senate this year, then we will impeach Biden.

I will vote for ANYONE but Trump. And Biden is the only Democrat I've ever voted for. I will vote for Biden, Kamala, and any other idiot over the greatest idiot narcissist ever foisted onto us. The sad part, if Republicans are dumb enough to nominate this fat *******, is that the Democrats will once again nominate someone who's only qualification will be that they can beat Trump. It won't be someone young, bright and somewhat middle leaning.

Imagine all the campaign finance lawsuits that will pile up on trump after another go at it.

Imagine if Biden were to beat him again how both parties would have new candidates in 28.

By the way, I imagine Trump would get trounced because there are even more people who feel as you said above. We don't need another Hitler.

If Trump wins his vengeance tour will begin in earnest. He has gotten away with so much. He will only be emboldened to persecute those he does not like. That would be the Biden / Garland legacy. Making Trump more powerful than ever with an aura of invincibility.

I'd very much like to see Newsom run in 2024.

DeSantis is way worse than Trump. He's actually smart , equally ruthless and unlike Trump would probably win .

Trump vs Biden would definitely open possibilities of third and fourth party candidates and unlike most years they may not be trivial considering that the two most unpopular Presidents may be running against each other. Fun times

At this point, I have zero confidence in Garland whatsoever.

News reports indicated that prosecutors in the DoJ were "astonished" by the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson.

If Garland's approach truly has been "bottoms-up" on Jan. 6th and more focused on the protestors who invaded the Capitol, rather than the man who incited the riot in the first place, then this Country is totally F-ed.

An interview of Robert Mueller's top prosecutor, Andrew Weissmann speaks to these concerns.
His Op-Ed in Monday's NY Times was pretty pointed in his criticism, especially in light of the fact that he worked with many of these current prosecutors in the DoJ.

As a matter of politics and social sciences it will be fascinating to see all of this unfold. And I guess one of the good things about being in a one party state is that I won't be subjected to the political ads, so I'll be able to watch from afar.

Doesnt matter because that's clearly not the point I'm making.

Being a "compromise" candidate has nothing to do with Garland and whether or not Trump is held accountable.
If Garland doesnt indict Donald Trump, Biden will go down in history as a 100% incompetent fool.

it'll never happen.

In order to have another party joint the fray, laws about ballots need to be put in place everywhere. Two parties have a lock on that. It won't get voted in everywhere.

Right now it's automatic that a Republican will be on every ballot and a Democrat will be. You have to go thru a special process of signatures for each and every non R/D candidate and ballot.

Duopoly is the problem.

Basically, what I'm looking for is some arguing match about who's D is bigger, if size really matters, who she has better O's with - with Newsom on that rug on the floor, or Trump on some yacht or airplane.

My money is on Newsom there, but he's probably asking himself how he ever fell for such a person. Youth. Weakness.

I'm guessing she and Jr are well suited. Bonfire of the … whatever you want to call them. Coattail riders. They'll never find happiness together. Misery perhaps.
