My rule of thumb for any breaking story like this (absent something actually extended like the OJ car chase or something) is that you can watch the news channels for about half an hour at most and then they will just start to repeat things you already know.Big C said:

But outside of that, isn't there supposed to be some sort of honeymoon period for events like this where "normal people" express remorse that it happened, without going political? Even twenty-four hours? Even eighteen hours?
Why? Because manners. Because class. Because shared humanity. A political leader was shot. An innocent bystander was killed. Two others were injured. (The shooter died, too, but I kind of don't care.)
Bottom line, I guess it doesn't matter, especially in this day and age, but screw everybody out there who went political on this today. You know who you are. You are part of the problem.
