He should have complied and respected the (non-total) authority of the police. People should be smart enough to realize that the police were simply trying to do their job within their authority here, it got out of hand, resulting in a tragedy.

I agree: the cop abused his authority and the situation quickly got out of hand. This incident, and so many like it, resulted from a snowflake cop in a power trip because someone wouldn't "Yessir. Right away sir." his every whim.

It seems like your point is that police have guns and qualified immunity, so we should do every single thing they say immediately and without any deviation- even if the instructions are contradictory (as we've seen before: "Show us your hands!" "Hands behind your head!") or we deserve to get killed in the street.

Everything you are saying here is an incorrect inference of anything I have ever said. You are incredibly wrong. Also, there is nothing here indicating that the cop was on a power trip. That is your bigotry impacting your ability to objectively watch the video. He was trying to properly do his job protecting the public from criminal activity.

Criminal activity? Where? The only criminal I saw was the one who shot an unarmed non aggressive person three times at point blank range.

I am not surprised that you saw the cop as a criminal and nobody else potentially involved in criminal activity. You have an extreme bias against police officers.

Actually, my extreme bias is against innocent people being killed by LEO, and Righteous Righties defending it reflexively.

Well, this guy is 003's hero. This should make all the righties happy. Thin blue line and all that police state fascist bs.

Everything you stated above is false. You have the maturity of a 5 year old. Get a hold of yourself.

Stop reflexively defending all cops. And quit name calling. And stop stalking me.

I don't reflexively defend all cops. You really need to learn to differentiate between what I actually say and the bizarre extreme conclusions you make about what I say.

You are the king of insults.

I don't stalk you.

Your lack of self-awareness and resulting accusations are a bit scary.

Here is an earlier story from June 2022. It looks like it has been around 18 months since the blast.

Why do you think the officer should be on trial for second-degree felony assault?

There should be some consequences for locking someone in a police car while it's parked on train tracks. In what world is that a safe and acceptable practice?

Nobody is splitting hairs. The only thing that happened is that the second degree assault charge was dropped. The other charges are still there and the officer is still suspended. Does nobody read before commenting and posting anymore?

This certainly pisses me off. Millions down the drain. By this standard, I should have gotten 5 million when Berkeley PD handcuffed me for suspicion of bike theft near the dorms.

I wonder what I would have collected when the campus police arrested 5 of us for being at the scene of a misdemeanor scrap lumber theft. The arresting cop knew only 2 people had been stealing it but he wasn't sure which 2, so we all got handcuffed and spent the night in the basement of Sproul Hall. My friends and I had merely been walking back from La Val's to the dorms at the time. 45 years later and it still colors how I see cops and read arrest stories.
