"The Army and other service branches are abandoning recruiting efforts at a prestigious Black engineering event this week, turning down access to a key pool of highly qualified potential applicants amid President Donald Trump's purge of diversity initiatives in the military.

The services cited concerns that participation in the predominantly Black event could run afoul of Trump's orders and the Pentagon's intensifying push to erase diversity efforts in the military, according to multiple sources familiar with the decision. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Jan. 31 ordered that Black History Month, Women's History Month and others were officially "dead" and that the military would no longer mark them."



In other news, I assume that Trump is getting prosecutors to back off Eric Adams so that if Adams wins another term, Trump will have a bent Mayor of NYC in his pocket, very helpful to his business interests. If Adams loses, he will toss him back to the wolves.

First that is fake. Ca certified 30 days after as required by law.

But second

CA sends mail ballots to everyone AND counts ballots that are post marked on election day but which arrive (I believe it is 3) some time afterwards.

About 3 days prior to election (depending on the county and its capacity) a list is run that shows which voters are registered and which ballots have been returned. This is sent to polling places.

At that point after all all ballots arriving by mail are set aside and unopened.

After the election all those ballots are compared to the individual precinct records to ensure that no one has voted twice. I believe the current practice is that if a voter votes at the precinct his/her ballot is destroyed. Only then will the ballots then be checked against signatures on file and opened and counted.

Provisional ballots also add to the "fun" as these can be cast day off and then officials have to resolve the problem. In most cases these reflect moves/record lags and so there is a also a process of resolving those to ensure the voter hasn't voted in 2 precincts.

Now you don't care because the above doesn't fit with your narrative from the bubble but that is why.

LOL. OK. So that is also misleading. There hasn't been any real confirmed reports of what most people would think of that (someone running around, grabbing ballots, and then filling them out for the person in an illegal way).

Here is how ABSENTEE CHASE works.

Once mail ballots drop the registrars of voters put out a list (usually at least every 3 days, closer to the election every day) iindicating who has voted. As a political campaign I go through that list and do 2 things.

1) If someone has voted I pull them from my mailing lists. It is wasted money to send them even MORE mailers when I can no longer influence their vote

2) Up my efforts to contact the voter who hasn't yet show up on the list. More mailing, more phone calls, if I can more door knocks.

If there WAS a credible act of illegally collecting unfilled out ballots and then filling them out in mass it woiuld have been reported and someone would be in jail.

BTW - both sides do it. I think largely because of individual skills GOP consultants were slower to get on board - though in San Diego the best absentee chaser by far and one that cut their teeth on it 25 years ago mostly worked on squishy coastal Republicans campaigns for years.

BTW 2 - is also could be that GOP consultants are less good at it because their voters just always show up. It is the dem registered that are infrequent and where the chase can nudge them to vote.
