MinotStateBeav said:Many of these "protests" are really trying to stir up revolution more than protesting a cause. That's why you see many times antifa is so active in them. That's why I have issues with Greenwald and Mate's reporting about them sometimes because they see them as purely massive "Free Palestine" protests but are in fact used as cover for antifa to do other nefarious things. There was a free gaza protest near me. The police let the protestors take over a busy street for hours while the "protestors" spray painted street signs, the road, and sidewalks, vandalized the aerospace company it was outside of, littered, and even dumped a bunch of rocks onto the street from the back of a pickup truck. They spray painted free gaza and acab everywhere.

It didn't ready this way to me in your post but per the video shared a few posts later it becomes clear that MLK is referring to the lands gained in the 6 day war. Of note, Israel has actually given up that land (or has tried) in exchange for peace - Sinai to Egypt, Gaza to PA (and w/drawal), west bank / Oslo Accords, Lebanon per UN brokered cease fire (which Hezbollah then broke by refusing to disarm). Golan Heights is the exception, I believe.KPG said:oski003 said:going4roses said:

Yes, let's bring back MLK and Ghandi! I wonder what they would say? Oh wait, we don't have to wonder, we can read their quotes directly!
Ghandi:
"Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English, or France to the French," Mahatma Gandhi wrote in Harijan on November 26, 1938.
"It is wrong and inhumane to impose the Jews on the Arabs … it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home,"
A religious act [the act of Jews returning to Palestine] cannot be performed with the aid of the bayonet or the bomb," he wrote. Gandhi felt that the Jews can settle in Palestine only "with the goodwill of Arabs", and for that they had to "forgo the British bayonet".
If the Jews have no home but Palestine, will they relish the idea of being forced to leave the other parts of the world in which they are settled?" Gandhi wrote, adding that the Jewish claim for a national home afforded "a colourable justification for the German expulsion of the Jews".
https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-history/gandhi-opposed-jewish-nation-state-palestine-8975964/
Martin Luther King Jr., who was planning a trip to Israel, and publicly supported Israel as a democracy, but whose trip had to be cancelled due to the 1967 War, which dramatically changed the Israeli-Palestinian relationship.
"I think for the ultimate peace and security of the situation it will probably be necessary for Israel to give up this conquered territory because to hold on to it will only exacerbate the tensions and deepen the bitterness of the Arabs."

Gandi's statements make for interesting historical/social sciences discussion. He had obvious reasons to be biased against Britain / colonialism. As has been discussed in this thread, Britain had a special role in the middle east, and its problems. 1938 was a point in time, just after Britain's Peel resolution for a 2 state solution. One can't help but wonder how Gandi's view would evolve with the removal of Britain from the equation and the influx of terrorist violence by Arabs.

It's not that difficult to understand people. If Hamas hadn't launched their murderous rampage on Oct 7th, there would be no war. When a terrorist group goes nuclear, there is no alternative but to remove them from control of a territory they use to stage attacks. No country on earth would tolerate the kind of savagery committed on that day.
And if you're having trouble figuring out why civilians in Gaza are dying, then you are blind to the fact that Hamas wants them to die. They put their rocket launchers in hospitals and schools to not only cause damage to Israel but to get as many civilians killed as possible. That's their entire strategy.

There is a lot more in the poll itself. More than 80% of those surveyed support Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa and Al Qazzam Bridages, with less than 5% supporting Saudi Arabia, UK, UAE or US. That level of support for Islamic terrorist organizations is almost as high as it is on US college campuses.
