" Although I may not agree with the vice-president on every issue, I know that he has a good heart, and he's motivated by his love for our country and the American people," Gabbard said.
I'm confident that he will lead our country guided by the spirit of aloha, respect and compassion, and thus help heal the divisiveness that has been tearing our country apart." The Guardian

...but not the bench Joe drafts. Puty knew tRump's bench would be at a minimum as incompetent as he and his supporters are.

Three pillars of Trump's case for reelection are collapsing all at once

President Trump's reelection campaign was designed under the premise that the economy would be strong through November, but that's not true anymore.
Trump also planned to make socialism a central focus of his attacks. But without Bernie Sanders to run against, this argument becomes a lot less potent.
Trump campaigned on "draining the swamp" of big government. Now he wants Americans to trust in big government to fight coronavirus and save the economy. CNBC

And also Trump himself is proposing socialist solutions to help blunt the economic impact of coronavirus.

Never underestimate a Republican's ability to call any Democrat a socialist. This year, they were just shocked the guy was an actual socialist.

This is why I hated Bloomberg-- which, yes, a lot of candidates do. But his campaign was built on a lot of BS. It was obvious that he was saying a lot of stuff to get elected. I honestly expected him to work closely with Republicans.

"President Trump gained ground on Joe Biden in the WashPost/ABC News poll this month, going from 7 points down in February to a statistical tie Biden 49%, Trump 47% among registered voters.

Trump is more trusted on the economy, Biden on health care.
When registered voters are asked whom they trust more to confront the coronavirus, the difference is statistically insignificant Trump 47%, Biden 43%." Axios

I would like to say this surprises me but it doesn't. Remember, this is the country of Mardi Gras and Spring Break during a pandemic. At the end of the day a country gets the government it deserves. tRump wins in 2020.

Trump could run unopposed and the results would be close to the same. The election will turn on the virus as the Democrats well know- Biden doesn't even have to be named. Watch this ad

This perfectly describes Biden.

If things continue to go as poorly as they have been, no independents will trust Trump to rescue us. There is virtually no chance our economy isn't in the tank this fall and Trump won't be able to pin that on Biden.

Trump owns whatever happens through the election date and people just don't yet realize how bad it's going. When 1,000 Americans a day are dying it will start to sink in.

Let's hope the state efforts prevent that from happening because Trump is incapable of putting the country's interests before what he perceives to be his own (he's too dumb to recognize they should be the same thing) and even if he knew the right course of action he is incapable of marshaling resources and his kakistocracy is filled with bumbling keystone cops chosen because of their loyalty to an idiot rather than the country.

You're welcome Bearister - thought you would enjoy it.

The new statement by Fauci that more than 100k Americans would die from CV and millions would be infected reminded me of the post I made weeks ago (seems like an eternity). At this point I'm calling it - Trump is going down.

Unit2Sucks said:

I think the discussions we have been having are now academic. If the country is able to successfully negotiate its way through the COVID19 outbreak, Trump skates to victory. If we have significant impacts (TBD on exactly what that means), Trump will be the scapegoat and Bernie will tout how M4A would have been better (Biden will point out that him not being an anti-science liar would have been better).

I think "success" will largely depend on how bad things get outside the country but I think anything in the neighborhood of 100k dead americans will be impossible for Trump to overcome. It would mean that our healthcare system was pushed far beyond the brink and potentially millions of Americans will have suffered catastrophic financial distress. The human impact plus the economic impact will be staggering. Anything less than 20k deaths will be a relief and Trump will rightfully tout how he navigated us through the worst public health crisis in the last 20 years. I hope that's what happens although it would mean 4 more years of Trump.

Will immediately cease to occasionally check in on podcasts from this Bernie supporter, who is now going with T over Biden:

Quote:

ROGAN: I'd rather vote for Trump than [Biden]. I don't think he can handle anything. You're relying entirely on his cabinet. If you want to talk about an individual leader who can communicate, he can't do that. And we don't know what the **** he'll be like after a year in office. The pressure of being President of the United States is something than no one has ever prepared for. The only one who seems to be fine with it is Trump, oddly enough. He doesn't seem to be aging at all or in any sort of decline. Obama, almost immediately, started looking older. George W. [Bush], almost immediately, started looking older.

Rogan's comments come after he called Biden "very old" and mocked his frequent verbal flubs as "not a normal way to communicate unless he's high as f*ck." In the same podcast interview, Rogan predicted that President Trump is "going to eat him alive" in the 2020 election.

Joe Rogan:
" At nineteen, he won the US Open Championship taekwondo tournament as a lightweight.[11][4][disputed discuss]. He was a Massachusetts full-contact state champion for four consecutive years and became a taekwondo instructor.[4][7] Rogan also practiced amateur kickboxing and held a 2 and 1 record;[15] he retired from competition at 21 as he began to suffer from frequent headaches and feared worse injuries.[4][7] Wikipedia

My take on Rogan:

1. He is a legitimate bad a$$;

2. He takes or has taken HGH or 'roids;

3. He is probably on the road to CTE from repeated concussions;

4. I don't respect his opinions;

5. I could explain to him that tRump appears not to age for the same reason Joan Rivers didn't: tRump is groomed like every aged celebrity: all illusion and fakery. If you stripped off all the product, removed the Spanx and the spray paint he would look like a zombie;

6. I wonder what Rogan's explanation would be how the Reagan Administration managed to govern from 1984 to 1988 when the POTUS thought he was filming Bonzo Goes to Washington during that entire span;

7. I agree with Rogan that tRump will win in 2020.

I wonder how many of "the Bernie people" will accept Trump's invitation and vote Republican. Surely at least a few dozen.

The big question, of course, is will they turn out for Biden in the battleground states?
