Reagan couldn't turn a phrase if his life depended on it. He COULD hit his mark, read his lines, smile at the camera, and then walk off set as the director yelled "Cut! That's a wrap!"

Assigning any agency or authority to him for any of his administration's actions is just silly.

Good point. I am editing my above post to read "deliver a line".

Reagan could really turn a phrase and persuade people. Unfortunately, he sold the idea that the only way to deal with a government that seemed bloated and inefficient was to dismantle it, rather than putting in the hard work to improve it. Streamline it, sure. Blow it up, probably not.

The purpose of government is to make people's lives better. If it is not doing the job, fix it.

Where do you get this idea that the purpose of government is to improve people's lives?

I heard a highly regarded teacher say it. It made sense to me and stuck. Obviously, governments do not always achieve their intended purpose, but they should strive to do that. Governments are supposed to help a bunch of people accomplish things for the common good that they could not do individually.

What do you think the purpose of government is?

And this person got elected to Congress! It might be interesting to move to her district and hang out with her constituents for awhile, just to see how that would be. Maybe.

I'd say making and enforcing laws to keep order and the country safe is a good place to start. I suppose this does help contribute to improving people's lives by making a society functional. However, government has that uncanny ability to mess things up using other people's money.

When the Fox News reporters in the correspondent pool try to engage in a battle of wits with her, they will find themselves woefully unarmed....but once Hannity's and Bow Tie Boy's editors finish manipulating the video, it will look like a Fox News' Gotcha! every night on their respective shows.

The Fox troops have to accept the reality that trying to exact payback by asking questions of Team Biden so that they look as dishonest, idiotic and incompetent as tRump and his F Troop, just isn't going to happen. That horrifying, surreal situation was hopefully a one and done in the history of our Republic.
Right now at the top of Fox News:

Hannity will end up in a downward spiral like tRump and Limbaugh. Why? Because like them, he is a rotten turd and he is a half a step slow with karma closing. Somebody said he looks like a thumb with hair.
Thomas Friedman refers to Hannity's employer as the "network without integrity, ...pumping out conspiracy theories without truth."

Man, the Biden administration is boring.

Even the hankybf2 threads grasping at straws are boring.

Remember all the fun we'd had when Trump was president and he'd tweet some good sh*t on Saturday nights?

As a point of comparison, this happened on the first Saturday of the Trump presidency:

This may shock you but when the media doesn't ask questions, they make the Biden administration look boring.

It's nice having a competent administration again. The fact that the right wing trolls and Fox News have been defanged after a disastrous 4 years should help our country recover.

I know that some have been disappointed that Biden has been so conciliatory but at least he is starting his presidency with some goodwill and decently high approval ratings (for this environment). The fact that he's following the biggest disaster of a 4-year term in history certainly makes it easier for him to look good by comparison but only time will tell how much 45's failures will end up sticking to Biden.

It's also clear that the rest of the world approves of Biden far more than Trump and that we are going to start to recover, if a bit slowly, our reputation internationally.

Senate Republican threatens impeachments of past Democratic presidents

*Go ahead, John, impeach the ex Democratic presidents. They'll be waiting.
This is all part and parcel of tRumpists wanting to attack Biden on a daily basis like tRump was attacked. The problem is that tRump is a career criminal and no one could even keep up trying to comment on his serial malfeasance. Fox News will be stuck with Biden's suit colors and whether he forgot to pick up his dog's turd on the White House lawn.

In their petty minds Trump's impeachment was like kindergarten bullying and now they want to do it too, instead of an investigation into major crimes against the nation that required a response and for which there was no other recourse.

And for their education, Trump was impeached both times WHILE IN OFFICE. Only the punishment is being deliberated after his term and again there was no other recourse because of GOP refusing to do it while he was in office--but of course they want it both ways to make it not happen and then complain it didn't happen. And there are really important reasons to continue this action now: 1) to keep Trump from being able to hold office and repeat insurrection with the power of government, 2) for their to be consequences for sedition and discovery to identify co-conspirators still holding office, 3) to terminate undeserved benefits to Trump in post-presidential life, 4) and to try and make sure this DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

This is all obvious and logical, and yet the Trumpers are still going down the rabbit holes of loyalty, lying, playing dumb, misdirection, stew men, and basically not giving a crud about being decent rationale citizens.

Biden has been President for a week and already people are starting Twitter threads about how many things he's failed to do yet. This seems disingenuous.

Apparently, you thought after he got elected, people weren't going to point out all the things he said he'd do that he didn't do.

You're disingenuous.

Disingenuous? I thought my point was incredibly straightforward: I don't think there's been enough time for Biden to have done all of this. And some of it (Hyde Amendment) literally can't be done by him alone.

" The Biden administration has imposed a temporary freeze on U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia and is scrutinizing purchases by the United Arab Emirates as it reviews billions of dollars in weapons transactions approved by former President Donald Trump, according to U.S. officials.

The review, the officials said, includes the sale of precision-guided munitions to Riyadh, as well as top-line F-35 fighters to Abu Dhabi, a deal that Washington approved as part of the Abraham Accords, in which the Emirates established diplomatic relations with Israel." Wall Street Journal

Ouch! Someone is going to be making a late night call to Mar a Lago seeking repayment of that upfront "broker's fee" on those sales.

All of these poor lost souls having such a horrendous time realizing that, yes, Biden is your president. It's going to be a LONG 4 years for some of you. Haha. Love it!
This just in: Republicans find another whistleblower who claims Hillary's emails were proven to be on Hunter's laptop while Obama spied on tRump as he sat (shat?) upon his golden toilet. Gym Jordan afraid whistle blower may be in danger of abduction by aliens in cahoots with Democrats.

I don't know why you are complaining. When Obama was elected people were mad he hadn't fixed the recession in December when Bush was still president
