No, this situation is about partisanship and bad media. Polling routinely reflects that people are happy with their own finances but that the overall economy is not good. This is because a lot of Republicans won't say good things about the country when a Democrat is President and also because poor media coverage has led many people to believe the overall economy is not good despite their own good finances.
