Your Central Valley: California Air Resources Board's new fuel standards to increase gas prices

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) "The California Air Resources Board (CARB) updated its Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) on Friday, potentially increasing gas prices."

"...Increase in gas is going to make things a lot harder for individuals. You know, it's already a struggle to purchase groceries that are going skyrocket. It's already hard for, you know, rent and just, you know, everything nowadays," Cameron Grant, a Fresno resident said.

"The updates to LCFS aim to cut transportation emissions by 30%."

Friday's update is expected to increase gas prices by 50 to 65 cents per gallon.

California Globe: Crazies in Climateland Vote to Increase CA Gas Prices by 65 per gallon

"The California Air Resources Board voted Friday to approve new gas regulations which will result in as much as a .65 cent per gallon increase in California's gas prices.

"The California Governor, Legislature and State Air Resources Board are working hand in glove to restrict the availability of oil and gas and increase the cost of gas at the pump so severely, middle class and working class drivers will be making choices between groceries and fuel for the car."

"...The Globe reported on this in October, and said this is how California Governor Gavin Newsom is going to jump back onto the national stage. Because once his role as Joe Biden's surrogate presidential candidate was shattered as Democrats replaced him with Kamala Harris, how could Newsom remain present in order to facilitate a run for President in 4 years?

"Climate Change, that's how.

"...This brings us to Gov. Newsom's plan to decrease the state's gas supply in special session legislation, as well as the California Air Resources Board mandating an additional .50 cents per gallon be added to the price of gas in California in January."

He'll face reality, like Kamala, when he has to defend his record, homelessness, driving out businesses, not building new reservoirs, train to nowhere, unfunded debt, etc.

Not a chance. CA is not a model that the vast majority of states want to follow. My source is a 65 year resident of CA: me.

I will admit that Newsom being from the same area as Kamala Harris will be seen as an obstacle.

The main reason I brought him up actually was to provoke my good friends from across the aisle. (mission accomplished)

I like Newsom though. Does he come across as "slick" because he sort of slicks back his hair? To me, Harris comes across as inauthentic, but Newsom doesn't (not that I am the arbiter of authenticity).

The French Laundry thing was a huge mistake... but it was one dinner.

I think Newsom sucks and California sucks just like the Biden Presidency sucks. More of a messaging problem than anything. Not gonna lie, having been Mayor of SF isn't going to win him any votes.

Two things I like about Newsom (this time I'm 100% serious):

1. he's often a step ahead of the game

a. gay marriage
b. was told he "had" to select a Black woman to replace Harris as Senator, so what does he do? He appoints a Latino man. Genius (sort of).

2. One of VP Harris' weaknesses during the campaign was that she would sidestep the question she was being asked. Newsom doesn't do that. He answers it and sells it. Has been doing that all over, for many, many years.

He's definitely good in his TV hits; I just have a lot of doubts that a national electorate will be able to connect with him.

What's the point of this post? I can tell you that I will vote again in CA because there seems to be a shift back to some sort of normalcy. Crimes being punished and more moderate candidates being elected is a good start. Up until now my vote as a right leaning person in CA has been akin to pissing in the wind. I think you are smart enough to have probably discerned this so again, what was the point of your post?

. Seems like a dumb statement. The neighborhood is one of the better ones in SF. We eat there twice per week. It's also an Italian and Chinese area. Their menu just may not be the taste of the area.

Hold on just one second caught with all that/ all those charges? What was his bail ? Did he make bail? Surprised bail was offered at all if that had been some people I know they would have jumped on a plea day and hoped to see light 10+ yrs down the line. Where were the Feds the ghost guns/build is federal I believe no ? Complexion for protection and was wealthy enough to bail out. Hmm the criminal justice system appears to only work against Black folks. Did the court order ankle monitors while on bail? I wouldn't be surprised if he disappears

And then what ? The societal issues have almost reached a critical mass point. Can't lock everyone up without paying 10's -100's millions of dollars to house them. Them being poor homeless / mentally ill / small time criminals to be released in months or a 1 yr to be dangers to society again. There is no rehabilitation no pathways to being productive citizens…
If they can't get work to that makes enough to afford a place to live what are we spending $$$ for ?
Ohhh that's right the incentives to lock the up to be involuntary slaves in private prisons… the bad karma continues to build

Whats up with this language? Is there such a thing as a "voluntary slave"? And calling a criminal sent to prison a slave is an afront to actual slaves. Prisoners are criminals who had their day in court, legal representation, Constitutional rights, etc.

Yes, we spend the money to put criminals in jail. Sucks to be us but that's better than the alternative. Especially since we see the recidivism rates under the current system and since we know it isn't just petty criminals who are being related into society.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as a voluntary slave. I wrote Jen Psaki, volunteering to be her slave, and received a form letter in reply, basically saying "thanks, but no thanks". So, no.

Lock up repeat violent felons, target the GTA rings and retail theft rings. Send a clear message. Oakland reportedly has 45,000 dumped cars on its streets, an eyesore and burden to daily life.

Do they need to be coddled for life? Step 1, stop the crime. Maybe if some illegal immigrants are deported opportunities will open up. Latinos are a dominant force in Oaktown now.

If they can't get work to that makes enough to afford a place to live what are we spending $$$ for ?

Huh? If they can't afford it, they probably need a better strategy, move to a cheaper area, etc.

Prison for habitual violent crime and slavery are two different realities.

There are many places in the U.S. with cheap living/housing costs and which are DESPREATE for labor. Warehouse jobs in Indianapolis, for one example. These are good quality jobs, especially for someone without a college degree.

California simply needs to end its permissive approach and these deadbeats will learn that they can move somewhere else in this huge country and earn a living for themselves. Maybe they can earn back some self respect.

The black people you seem so focused on don't have a right to live anywhere specific, particularly in high-cost California, not unlike the rest of us. They can move to where their education lines up with the job opportunities. And homeless people should not have the right to pitch a tent in public spaces.
