Kamala isn't going to make it. That said, I think she's make a very good Attorney General. Mayor Pete, Yang, and Gabbard all seem smart enough for a cabinet post. I think it's down to Biden and Warren but Biden won't pick Warren as a VP.

Dem race is down to 9, maybe 10 at next debate.

My top 5 and my desired ticket are...

1 Sanders
2 Warren
3 Buttigieg
4 Yang
5 Gabbard

Warren/Buttigieg. I love Sanders, but think Warren should lead the ticket in the end, and Mayor Pete is an excellent VP candidate.

Anybody else care to share theirs? Or tell me why Warren/Buttigieg can't defeat Trump/Pence in a landslide?
I think Bernie is bleeding supporters to Warren.

The polling is kind of weird here. Bernie supporters name Biden and Warren as their second choice in about equal numbers.

Voters are complicated.

Today's cognitive disorder Joe Biden update:

Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that "those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president." But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were "basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera."

Ok, Joe but you weren't in office then.

So which Democrat asks first for results of his "Ageing related tests". I'd go with Kamala. She'd f$ck a rattlesnake if there was something for her benefit

Hey, Ronnie Ray Gun yelled "CUT!" 5 times a day during his entire second term because he thought he was filming Bonzo Goes to Washington and the world didn't end.

Well that's not good news because now instead of being vindictive Bernie crybabies they will become vindictive Warren crybabies and they won't vote for Sleepy Joe if he gets the nomination and the Orange Tub of Guts wins again.
I don't think vindictive Bernie supporters exist in great enough number to affect the election. I think what the results are showing is that his support from last year was less about him and more about being "not Hillary" and then went to Trump for the "not Hillary" vote. Had nothing to do with bitterness about the primaries.

If Biden becomes the nominee Harris seems like a no-brainer VP pick for him.

And dajo does not have biases. Of course I do. Don't you? I have no great love for the Donald's behavior so put him on the list.

It appears that the Russians are currently using bots and ads on various platforms to stoke racial tensions in the United States per Clemson University researchers. This is the exact same thing that they did leading up to the 2016 elections. Russians interference in the 2020 elections is alive and well.

A few liberals here stoking racial tensions must be Russian bots.

The Russians are supporting Biden this time. He shares their view

"Look at what's happening with Putin. While Putin is trying to undo our elections, he is undoing elections in Europe. Look what's happened in Hungary, look what's happening in Poland, look what's happening," Biden said. "Do you think that would happen on my watch or Barack's watch? You can't answer that, but I promise you it wouldn't have. And it didn't."

"Many of the nation's current pathologies are centered in the majority-white population of rural America, heavily hit by the opioid crisis and facing falling populations, job losses and rising suicide rates, Axios' Stef Kight writes.

Why it matters: The malaise and discontent that President Trump taps into goes beyond the racism of the past few weeks, and includes anger at a changing world and frustration at dwindling opportunities close to home.
These trends are further entrenching the rural-urban schism that came to light in the 2016 election.
The big picture: Political and economic power is shifting to the cities, and 20% of the population 46 million people is being left behind in the middle of America.

These communities face increasingly higher barriers to education, wealth and health....

...What's next: Technological advancements such as 5G and automated vehicles won't directly make life harder for rural America, but instead will fuel inequality by making life that much easier for urban America.

The rural-urban divide will continue to play a central role in politics and elections for the next several years unless and until rural America's population declines enough that their political power dwindles." Axios

Quote:

NIXON: Authorized the Watergate Hotel burglary of the Democratic National Committee offices and subsequent cover-up. The cover-up included protecting a larger "rat-****ing" operation during the Democratic primaries in 1972, which destroyed the campaign of Edmund Muskie. (Participants: Roger Stone and Karl Rove)

REAGAN: The October Surprise Theory has a large amount of circumstantial evidence to support it. See Gary Sick's "October Surprise" (1992) and Robert Parry's "Trick or Treason" (1993). The October Surprise was that Iran would release the US citizen hostage held at the American Embassy in Tehran before the 1980 election. There are documents in the George HW Bush library indicating that Reagan's campaign manager, Bill Casey, negotiated prior to the election with the ayatollah, "to suggest that it might be in Iran's interest to stall the negotiations over the release of the American hostages." Karl Rove handled direct-mail for the Reagan-Bush campaign. Roger Stone also worked on Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign.

BUSH 43: Bush v. Gore. Republican operatives including Matt Schlapp staged the "Brooks Brothers Riot" to appear to be angry Florida voters demanding that Florida's recount be halted, particularly in Broward County, a majority Black, majority Democratic, county. Roger Stone claims to have organized the Brooks Brothers riot. Karl Rove was chief strategist for Bush's presidential bid.

TRUMP: Trump campaign accepts stolen DNC emails from Russia via Wikileaks, the conduit was allegedly Roger Stone. Karl Rove's efforts have switched to maintaining Mitch McConnell's majority in the US Senate, helped with large dark money donations, particularly from billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who is also a Trump funder.

"is"? Debatable. But he definitely should be.
I don't know how he reconciles his beliefs regarding the value of human life ("And that's our measure. Human life cannot be measured. It is the measure itself against which all things are weighed") with his opposition to affordable healthcare and gun control.

As I've said, don't get too excited about one poll.

But yes, Warren has clearly been rising. It's not even a "surge" really, just a steady rise over time (which tells you it's likely to last).

To my relatively unbiased eye, Warren is the most impressive candidate in the field. She's the best political athlete, so to speak. I don't necessarily love the policies she's articulated, but I don't think any democrat will be in a position to pass extreme legislation so at this point policy positions are really just establishing ideology.

I've always sort of wondered why Hillary didn't choose Warren as VP, especially given her choice of Kaine. I wonder if Hillary was afraid of having too strong of a personality or advocate and wanted someone who would do her bidding.

Thinking of a Warren VP candidate -

Beto seems like an interesting play for Texas
Booker is proving to be a dynamic candidate
Jay Inslee would be nice to have in government as a climate change guru, but I don't think he's very dynamic on the campaign trail
Mayor Pete could be a nice Midwest balance

The only real stumble Warren has had was that video touting her DNA sample and Native American ancestry. Ironically, that may actually have helped her a bit, in that it caused people to discount her chances early and she didn't get the crosshairs on her like Beto or Biden or Kamala.

Otherwise she's just been out there releasing policy plans and saying the same stuff on the stump and rising in the polls.

I'm not sure that Harris has a real narrative to her campaign. Like, what is she for? With Biden or Bernie or Warren you know what their argument is. Harris just seems to be there as the candidate whose identity looks good on paper (young, progressive, woman of color).
Another Bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Harris doesn't have a narrative and her policy seems geared towards politics and not policy. She, like Gavin Newsom, is backed by old SF money...progressive on social issues but we're talking old money, oil money...and they're not backing socialists, yet Harris presented as one on some issues.

Harris is also part of the Brown-Burton machine, like Newsom. Again, progressive social issues, some progressive policy but the state of California is still the 5th largest economy in the world and it's being run like it is. The Brown-Burton machine has always been about horse-trading...you can have that, but we get that. On some levels, that's just politics...compromise, everyone gets something...but it can get sorted, fast.

My take is Harris is smart, educated, savvy, a very good prosecutor and a good senator..and yes, photogenic...but I still can't tell what her core values, policy or how she'll lead.

Besides clear policy and smarts, Warren presents sort of like a school principal. Honest and forthright, wants to do what's best for all, if possible. Mostly she seems basically honest but with ideas and values, especially compared to Trump. Also, she's from a fly over state, although now on the East Coast.
