Well, I'd say the deceased Oakland baker and her friends are examples of people with Progressive views on criminal justice. I can assure you that Jen and her friends will get their wish with regard to the persons responsible for Jen's death. So that will be a Win-Win-Win situation, the winners being Jen, the perpetrators and Madame DA.

*I find the circumstances surrounding Jen's death a bit ironic. She got dragged to death fighting for her purse. In her life view, weren't the thieves entitled to take her purse? I suppose bourgeois values were hard baked into her DNA and she went into autopilot mode during the robbery.

Things run in cycles. About ten years ago, there were gangs of people entering restaurants and robbing everybody. Voters got all "law and order". Then came the George Floyd killing (and others like that... and Trump's reaction). Voters got all "justice reform". Now it's swinging back the other way.

Seems like we could have both (anti-crime + justice reform, both), but maybe that's just me.

Ideology aside, this all just demonstrates that Price is bad at her job. How can her team not see that this move is going to create more trouble than it's worth? Just an awful read of the politics; they are making a star out of the person they tried to freeze out.
