Just think of the millions of working class high school girls in this country who could become highly paid professional athletes, or at least get full athletic scholarships to college, but can't make their high school team because they are edged out by the transgenders. So they settle for trying hard in the classroom, but -- oops -- they can't even succeed there because when they go to the bathroom, they don't know if the "girl" in the next stall might have a p***s. So they end up having to drop out of school.
And then the Democrat Party wonders why it no longer appeals to the working class...

There is a definite element of truth here, in that the working class is more socially conservative than the affluent liberal coastals who have taken over the Democratic Party and have pushed it further left on the social/ideological scale and further right on the neoliberal economic scale, a move which has alienated the former Democrat base. That's also true of some minorities who are also more socially conservative.

And so, if we were in public in a group of people talking, and someone was being rude, yes, I might say something. My guess is, you would not behave the same if you were accountable for your behavior. In this forum you're not.

As a conservative, I am obviously more inclined to side with less regulation, less corporate taxes, encouraging family values, and legal immigration. I think Don McGahn was the one person in the Trump White House that I strongly supported. He led the drive on justice appointments with a focus on those with true conservative values (unlike Trump) like checking the almost unconstitutional power creep that kept growing the Chevron doctrine for unelected agencies where the laws were changing with every administration, with key law making activities removed from the elected legislative body. Congress will actually have to do their job on making laws instead of deferring to agencies controlled by the executive branch.bear2034 said:calbear93 said:The ethnic groups with the highest percentage of their members affiliated with Protestant faith and Catholicism are Black and Hispanic at over 70%. The Deep State and Democrats got on the stupid Orange Man Bad Train to focus on impeaching Trump over the Russia Collusion hoax and the J6 FBI entrapment hoax and could care less about the economy, legal immigration and family values. They couldn't win based whatever they were secretly promoting with Joe Biden. It ended up being hyperinflation, an invasion of our southern border, and more endless wars. So they stole the election and created J6 to divert attention away from the crime of the century.

There just seems to be very little electoral audience for fiscal conservatism right now. It will probably come back at some point, but we're in an era where people want active spending/government.calbear93 said:As a conservative, I am obviously more inclined to side with less regulation, less corporate taxes, encouraging family values, and legal immigration. No, I need them to do their job. Shutting down the government is creating more expenses and more deficit. It doesn't actually reduce spending. Imagine shutting down a factory or an office because people cannot be professional, as if walking away and hurting Americans is the right leverage. Compromise and do the job.bear2034 said:calbear93 said:

Would you approve of shutting down parts of the government to curb spending?
It kind of is, but the problem is made worse by cutting taxes without cutting expenses. We couldn't get enough spending cuts to justify the personal income tax cuts.movielover said:
When do our $2 Trillion+ deficits per year become unsustainable?
They want lower taxes and higher entitlement, borrowing against the well being of our next generation. Raising taxes on just the rich does not work when there is no discipline on spending. Our state is going to find out real soon.sycasey said:There just seems to be very little electoral audience for fiscal conservatism right now. My working assumption is that Biden is taking money from the cartels, or being blackmailed by them, or else he would control the border.

Well, Congress has the purse, and I think they are so busy playing games that they don't do their work until the last minute and then just pass something. Get started earlier.bear2034 said:calbear93 said:No, I need them to do their job. Shutting down the government is creating more expenses and more deficit. It doesn't actually reduce spending. But what is your explanation then for an expanding government with bureaucrats who aren't elected, who can't be held accountable for making policy decisions, and require a growing budget to support them?

I believe so. EPA case has already had chilling effect on the SEC. When the Chevron doctrine is overturned as I suspect it will, Congress will have to be more specific, and the courts will not give deference to "reasonable" adjudication of ambiguous law by the unelected agencies, which interpretation can swing wildly with obvious instability for consumers and businesses with each administration.
The framers intended changes in laws to be slow and careful, instead of swinging broadly with authoritarian method by each administration by the executive branch. That is why there is veto, need to go to both the senate and the house, etc. You may like it when your party has the white house and can appoint their own dictators, but you won't like it very much when it's flipped. And that is not how laws that have monumental impact of our lives are supposed to go. It is supposed to be slow, deliberated, and careful, with lack of compromise resulting in status quo. You know, checks and balances that prevent authoritarian government that you are using to call Trump the boogeyman? You are so busy calling Trump a dictator that you ignore the true dictators who are appointed to agencies because they are owed political favors.Eastern Oregon Bear said:Your first problem is expecting Congress will have the competence to be more specific about anything.
