The CDC has been told by Administration officials to soften testing guidelines which would eliminate the testing of people with no symptoms. This is like being in the pitch dark and using a lighter to see only to find yourself surrounded by explosives, this is going to end badly. I can't imagine the effect that this will have on schools, colleges, and universities who need the information to prevent widespread outbreaks. Ignoring the reality doesn't make the situation better and people will recognize any attempts at artificially lowering the numbers of the infected, hospitalized, and the dead. People will be held accountable.

Not surprising that Captain Catastrophe and his Merry Band of Idiots were talking out of both sides of their mouths. They were saying that states were okay to open for business while quietly warning them about the increases in COVID cases which placed them in the Red Zone.

I agree with him. If I saw an apartment building on fire I would down play it and not warn anyone.

This is a pretty big story. Easily in the top 10 scandals of the Trump administration. Where are all his defenders?

Here's NPR's take:

President Trump acknowledged the deadliness of the coronavirus in early February and admitted in March to playing down the virus' severity, according to recorded interviews included in a new book by legendary reporter Bob Woodward.

"This is deadly stuff," the president told Woodward in a Feb. 7 conversation, according to the book, which is called Rage.

Later that month, Trump tweeted that the virus was "very much under control in the USA." He has also said that the virus would "disappear."

The coronavirus has been blamed for nearly 190,000 deaths in America.

"You just breathe the air and that's how it's passed," Trump said in the Feb. 7 conversation. "And so that's a very tricky one. That's a very delicate one. It's also more deadly than even your strenuous flu."
The next month, Trump admitted to playing down the virus' severity.

"I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward on March 19. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic."

Woodward has tapes of Trump. You can't just deny this all away or claim it's anonymous sources. Trump is literally on record saying these things.
